Yesterday was a full day. I started off by baking two large batches of cookies, one of gingers and the other a batch of "One Cup" cookies. Then I was off to Estevan, did a little shopping, visited Howard and Aunt Viola. At 3:30 our accordion group, (I think we have an official name but that escapes me right now!) played for the residents at St. Joseph's Special Care Home. Accordion music isn't Howard's favourite but he seemed to enjoy it. There were five ladies playing accordions, one at the piano and one man on the guitar. We missed our other man who plays the banjo. Most of the songs were familiar to Aunt Viola. We play a mix of old time music and gospel songs. After playing for almost an hour we were off for a supper together at "Blackbeard's Restaurant". Several of our members are "snowbirds" who will soon be heading south so this was a last get together of the season. The rest of us will keep on playing.
After our meal I headed off to visit the home where I will be house sitting this winter. Just like the place we had last year, this one is a perfect fit. Well, actually it's much more than I need. God is good! I always say that I can't live in a house that doesn't have south windows. This one is blessed with south windows in the dining-room, kitchen and family room. It overlooks the valley so it's almost like being in the country. To top it off there's a piano as well as an organ with a full set of foot pedals. No excuse for not practising this winter! In the basement there is a huge sewing room with two sewing machines plus an industrial quilting machine. I won't be touching that one! The house has internet so I'll be able to keep on blogging. There's even a lefse grill and a Bosch mixer. What more could I ask? Oh yes, there's an attached double garage so I won't even have to go outside to get in my vehicle. I am truly blessed. The house will be available next week so I'll start moving in then and likely be back and forth to the farm, at least until the snow flies.
October has lots of special days for our family. Two days after Sandra's birthday, the Markentin twins celebrated their sixth birthday. Thanks to Joan's Facebook, here's a picture of these two cuties on Oct.7.

Today Paige Michelle Erickson celebrates her 9th birthday. This picture isn't a current one but it's such a good one of her that I'm including it. Perhaps there'll be an update after today's birthday.

This brings to a close my words for today's blog. Now I better do some fall cleaning in this house before I think of moving to another one!
