I have many blogs to catch up on but I'll start with the 17th of May, Norway's day of independence, as celebrated in Frontier and in Kristiansund. Sandra was the emcee for the program, helped with decorating and brought lefse for the bountiful Norsk baking table. Your mouth will be watering as you look at these pictures, but I'll take a chance on that. I had left my digital camera at Clare's but found one at a garage sale in Swift Current for $10 so these are the first pictures that I took with it.

Meanwhile, back in Norway, Todd and Kristy had already taken part in the Syttende Mai parade in Kristiansund. Kristy was excited to wear her new Nordmøre bunad for the first time. It was especially made for her and a dream come true for Kristy to have a bunad of her own.
I don't think they feasted on Norsk baking, in fact the food most likely eaten in large quantities throughout Norway that day are hotdogs, or pølse as they are known there. After the children take part in those big parades, what better food could you serve them but hotdogs from stands along the streets! Todd and Kristy went to their friends, Rolf and Ruth's, after the parades. Did you have hotdogs? (Kristy says that they did indeed have pølse, and that the mustard and ketchup easily washed out of her new blouse. It has really been initiated now! Thanks to your comment, Kristy, I saw that I needed to learn now to make the Norsk ø on my Mac.)

Thanks for posting about our special day with my new nordmøre bunad. We did have pølses at Rolf and Ruth's. Funny story as I wasn't used to the bunad yet, I dipped my sleeve right into ketchup and mustard ontop of a hotdog. It came out right away though with cold water and some dish soap so it is now officially used!!
