Of this and that
I haven't been in a blogging mood lately but it's over a week since my last one so will settle down and update you tonight.
The house was a lively one today as Abbey and her friend, Shaylene, stayed overnight and spent the day here as Jodi was in Regina taking part in a long walk in support of the teachers strike. It was a two day one this week and they will be back to school tomorrow.
The girls were enthralled with the four little kittens that are living in a cardboard box on the deck. They are just over a week old so are just opening their eyes. The mother cat thought it was just fine that the girls were "cat sitting" for her. The girls each had two kittens on their laps as they watched a Madeline movie downstairs. I drove the girls back to Tribune and met Jodi there. It was a quiet ride as they both fell asleep not long after we went through Torquay.
On Wednesday afternoon our "Torquay Grannies" sang for the monthly birthday party at St. Joseph's Care Home in Estevan. It was fun to get together and sing again. Vickie and I also played some old time and some gospel songs on piano and accordion. The residents enjoy listening to music. Howard sang a duet with me and also sang along on some of the other songs. Aunt Viola invited us to sing for her 94th birthday party on June 8 so we look forward to doing that.
After the program was over Howard suggested that we go out for supper. We went to Houston Pizza as Wednesday night is senior night. Then we went to Canadian Tire and bought a few things, a hosta plant being one of them. Now I have five with a solar light beside each one.
Sask Tel hooked up Howard's phone on Wednesday so he is enjoying that, maybe a little too much as he's made a lot of calls home today! It's long distance to Torquay from Estevan so I usually tell him to hang up and I'll call him back on "the bundle". He hasn't quite figured that out yet. His number is 637-2507, if you can catch him in his room.
Laurel found a good used burgundy power lift chair for Howard online. Greg picked it up in Fort Qu'Apple last Sunday and they brought it to Estevan on Monday. Dawson showed Grandpa how to operate it so he was showing me how it works yesterday.
Clare has been seeding around home today, has gotten stuck just once, so far. The forecast is for rain tonight so he's working late to get as much in as he can. There isn't much seeded in Torquay area.
I enjoyed a trip to Williston on Monday with Jodi and Abbey so that's how we celebrated Victoria Day. JC Penney always has some good buys. The bill says that I saved $136.94! Of course I had to spend a little more than that to do it but most of my purchases were 40 to 50 % off so we found some good buys.
We had lunch at Applebee's and that's always a fun place to eat.
I am enjoying the tulips blooming along our sidewalk. They aren't this nice and tall every year so the rain has brought out the best in them. I'll share a couple pictures.
That's it for tonight. I'll try and finish my "behind blogs" this week - Hans' birthday, Heather and Mark's anniversary and Aunt Helma's memorial gathering.
