More wedding details, then on to the sailing!

Kristy's three sisters were Jolene's attendants. I didn't get a picture of them together but have one of Todd and Kristy to post. I'll add more when I have access to the pictures on Todd and Kristy's camera this weekend.

Todd was Grandma Wanda's escort for the weekend and he took very good care of this 87 year old special lady. Together they lit the candles before the ceremony, he helped her onstage at the reception so she could play two hymns on her harmonica. Then he escorted her to Brooks as she didn't want to stay quite as long as the younger crowd. It has been special for him to share Kristy's Grandma Wanda and her late Grandpa Mike. Todd never knew his Grandma Johnson and by the time he was ten years old all his grandparents had passed away.

On Sunday afternoon the Ledene's hosted an open house at their home in Brooks. The weather cooperated and the showers stayed away. We enjoyed the fellowship and the good food as we spent the afternoon in their lovely back yard.

We spent a second night at the Ramada and Todd joined us for breakfast on Monday after his early morning run. He is training for a marathon in Trondheim the end of September so has to get in shape. We stopped at Ledene's and Jasperson's to say good-bye, then headed home to SK.

We headed north on #4 highway at Swift Current and joined my two brothers and their wives at Saskatchewan Landing. Merv and Jan had come to the park on their sailboat the day before. Alan and Judy came from their camper at Cypress Park. When the winds calmed down a bit the six of us enjoyed going for a peaceful sail on the lake. It takes teamwork to sail, especially on a boat with a 5o ft mast. It is actually their cabin too as there is a bedroom, bath
room, kitchen and sitting area down below. No space is wasted!

After our sail we enjoyed supper together at the Marina. Merv will be 65 this month and Howard 75. Merv was going to pay for our meal to celebrate the arrival of his first "Old age pension" next month. But I guess Howard wanted to celebrate his ten years on the pay roll so he took care of the bill this time.

We made our way to Swift Current and had a good sleep at the Corcoran home. After breakfast we headed east again and stopped for lunch at Laurel and Greg's farm near Milestone. Ashley calls me "my Grandma" but it was Grandpa who got her attention as she brought books for him to read to her.

A brief stop in Weyburn for groceries and soon we were home again, thankful to have had safe travels, especially so with all the traffic on Monday after a long weekend. We had guests from the Schnell wedding staying in our home while we were gone and it was special to find notes and gifts from them showing their appreciation. I just wish we had been home to meet these fine people. I hope that can happen someday.

Now we are getting ready for a busy weekend. Thursday evening is grass cutting at Salem cemetery and "house cleaning" in the church itself. It's always a fun time as volunteers come out to work and visit. There will be a service there this Sunday at 11 am. We usually all bring picnic lunches but we have decided to invite everyone to join us at the Johnson farm for dinner after the service in honor of Howard's 75th birthday which is on August 11. My mother would have been 91 that day but only lived to be 65. We will be remembering her that day too. Our yard will become a campground for the weekend as Laurel's, Clare's and Kirk's all plan to bring their campers. Dan and Helga Ledene, Jenny, Todd and Kristy will be coming from Brooks and may bring a camper too. My sister, Sandra and Merle Sanford and their son, Jason also plan to join us. Marion, two year old Blaine and seven month old Katie will be going with Grandpa Corcoran to a family wedding in Edmonton. We are so glad they arranged to see us when we came through Swift Current!

Well, it's past my bedtime so will sign off for now. Hope to see some of you this weekend!!
