The Horace Johnson Family

After posting the picture of the Horace Johnson family I want to introduce them to make sure that everyone knows who's who.

Horace and Clara (Bergum) had three children - Doris, Howard and Ardis. Doris died of a ruptured appendix in 1940 at the age of nine. Howard was born on August 11, 1935 in a farm house just a mile north of our present home. Ardis was born on September 7, 1940 in Estevan.

Horace and Clara's descendants now number sixteen - two children, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. When you add the spouses, the family grows to twenty-two. Kris Johnson's wife, Stacy, was unable to attend so is the only one missing on this picture. Sadly, Clara died in 1958 at the age of 54 so did not live to meet her daughter-in-law, or any of the grandchildren. Clara was born on February 10, 1904. Elaine was born on February 10, 1942. Howard was born on August 11, 1935. His mother-in-law, Hulda (Haaland) Erickson was born on August 11, 1919. A coincidence? I like the term "Godincidence" that I once heard someone use.

I'm sure you are able to pick out the "older generation" near the middle - Elaine (Erickson), Howard and Ardis. The grandkids in the back are Laurel and Greg Diekrager, Shauna (Fornwald) and Kirk, Kristy (Ledene) and Todd, Jodi (Kot) and Clare, Kris (married to Stacy LeBlanc).

The great grandchildren in the front row are Dawson D, Carter and Jamie J (Kirk's), Ashley D, Ava and Samuel J (Kris'), Abbey J (Clare's), Lindsay J (Kirk's) and Eric D. This is the first time that these nine have been together so it was great to get a picture with Salem Lutheran Church in the background. Ben and Gina Johnson, along with son Horace, were charter members of Salem in 1906 and are buried in the cemetery just east of the church.

Well, this introduction turned into a history lesson so I better end this right now!
