Not a lot to add to my blog post today, just normal day to day activities. And that's great because it means we are healthy, happy and enjoying life each day. A "normal" day is a lot to be thankful for, and even better, a normal week!
On Sunday after morning worship at Trinity we drove to Weyburn, had lunch at A&W and then went to the curling rink to watch Abbey and her team curl two games in a fun spiel. They lost their first game in the morning but easily won the two afternoon ones. I'm sure they were tired after playing three eight end games that day. Alan was impressed with the smooth deliveries those girls made. They started curling together last year and are doing very well for grade nine students. Abbey plays third. They are curling again in a fun spiel on Saturday in Weyburn and have a Saskatoon bonspiel the next weekend. Way to go girls!
Carter has a hockey game on Friday in Estevan so we might take that in, even if I don't care to watch contact hockey!
This coming weekend is special for us in two ways. Saturday, November 14 is our nine months anniversary. We plan to take in the supper at Casino Night in Torquay. I am hoping to get some baking done for the silent auction table, perhaps some flatbread, lefse and ginger cookies. The fund raiser is to support the Torquay Community Centre which includes the skating rink and former school.
On Sunday, Nov 15 it will be a year since Alan and I "met" after not seeing each other since high school days in the fifties! We had exchanged lots of emails and spent hours on the phone in the previous two months so we weren't exactly strangers! That first visit went well and three months later we were married. When you are in your seventies, there's no time to waste! We are very happy to be back together again after being high school sweethearts in 1958. We are looking forward to spending our first Christmas together.
If you aren't able to take in a Remembrance Day service on Wednesday, there is good TV coverage of the ceremonies in Ottawa. Those who served and still serve in Canada's military deserve a time of remembrance, lest we forget the great sacrifices made for us.
