ADVENT I

Sunday, November 29 marked the first Sunday in Advent when the candle of peace was lit on the Advent wreath.  Tomorrow December arrives!  We just have a light dusting of snow on the ground so roads are great so far.

On Saturday we met Kirk's at Tim Hortons and brought their Christmas pictures that had arrived in Ambrose Post Office from Shutterfly.  I didn't get pictures this year but am working on getting a letter and cards sent in the next week or so.  The Christmas mail is always a highlight of the season for me, a chance to keep in touch with family and friends near and far.

I even did some shopping online over the so called black Friday weekend. On Friday I found a comforter set at JC Penney that I liked.  It was half price, but still too much with the exchange on our Can. dollar.  But on Saturday there was an even better deal - 33% off for orders over $100 in certain categories.  Now the comforter was affordable so it should arrive next week along with its matching shams and a navy bedskirt. (I also found a cosy sweater and new jeans on the same deal!)  Shopping online is my favourite way to shop, as long as the clothing fits.

I have a start on Christmas baking -  oatmeal cookies that will be put together with date filling, flatbread and sandbakkels.  Next on the list is my favourite - Julebrød or Christmas bread with cherries, raisins and mixed peel.

We watched the Grey Cup game on TV on Sunday.  Alan was cheering for Edmonton since the Roughriders weren't in contention this year.  The Ottawa team kept it close until the very end so it was an exciting game that ended 26-20 for the Edmonton Eskimos.

On Wednesday evening the Torquay Fifty and Over club has their annual Christmas supper.  We are to bring a $10 gift for the fun exchange and will also do some carol singing.

On Saturday we plan to take in the Northwest/Southeast Choir concert at Trinity, Estevan.  Choir members are from ND and SK and have concerts in Estevan on Sat. at 7:00 and Crosby, ND at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon.

I had a picture of Abbey's curling team to add but I'm having a problem adding pictures tonight.  Her girls team won bronze medals in the Tim Horton's 14 and under bonspiel in Saskatoon a week ago.  Way to go girls!
Abbey is second on the left side.
It's bedtime so this will have to be published with no pictures.  I hope I can get things figured out for next week's post. ps It worked after I shut down the computer for the night!
