FAREWELL TO MARCH!

On Saturday morning I was pleased to get a call from Jeff, my former "boarder from the border".  He had good news - he will be starting work at the Sarnia Customs and Immigration port of entry on March 1.  He has been working at the Toyota plant for the past three months as he waited for an opening in customs.  Now he will be working twelve hour shifts so three days most weeks with a four day work week occasionally.  That will be a treat for him after putting in five and six day work weeks at Toyota in Cambridge as he often had overtime.  He will still have a drive of an hour each way, but hopes to find a place to stay for two nights a week in Sarnia.

Clare, Jodi, Abbey and her friend Chaylene stopped by the farm on their way home from Pheonix on Saturday afternoon.  They had a wonderful time enjoying the warm weather and had some sunburns to prove it.  They spent lots of time at the condo pool, took in some ball games, did some golfing and some shopping - a very relaxing week.  Now Clare is back to hauling grain, loaded up the semi to take back to Weyburn that evening. Here are a few pictures of their holiday.

The last Sunday of the month is Potluck dinner at the Torquay Fifty and Over Club so a group of us went there after morning worship service at Trinity. It was quite a feast with half a dozen hot dishes and four desserts!  Then I stopped in at Hugh and Heather's and we watched the animated Disney movie, "Frozen".  I had heard the songs when Ashley stayed with me so now I saw how they fit into the movie.  We enjoyed it - the Norsk names of the characters, the many special songs, the humor and especially that of Olaf the snowman.  Lutefisk was even mentioned!  "Frozen" won an Academy award for best animated film and best song of the year, "Let it Go".

Now it is Monday morning so time to get this post online!  I just talked to Shauna.  They got back from a great holiday at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at 3:30 this morning!  So the kids slept in and are taking an extra day off school today to "catch up".  I'll add some pictures on my next post.

Laurel's had a fun weekend in Minot with swimming, shopping and relaxing.  They stopped in Weyburn for KFC on their way through on Sunday afternoon.

Tomorrow I'm planning to go with Laurel and Ashley to Moose Jaw.  Laurel is meeting her friend Holly at the Spa and we'll visit my niece Tanya over lunch.  Roads are good after some icy ones yesterday.  In fact records were broken in many parts of SK on this last day of March.  Even Maple Creek set a new record of -13º early this morning.  Spring weather isn't in a hurry to get here.

Well, I better sign off for now.  See you again in a few days.
