GREEN WEEK IN SK!

Ashley leaving a "Princess" birthday party

Ashley was invited to a birthday party on Saturday afternoon so she and Laurel missed out on going to Eric's hockey game in Estevan.  On Sunday both the boys played in the PeeWee game so the family all went to that game, in spite of icy roads.  I'm a fair weather driver so I didn't venture any farther than Torquay that day.  Milestone won their games without this Grandma to cheer them on!
Rider fans along "the Green Mile" in Regina last night

The  Saskatchewan Roughriders have advanced to the Grey Cup game to be held in Regina next Sunday!  Yesterday they defeated the Calgary Stampeders in the semi-final at Calgary.  The Roughriders have the most devoted fans in Canada so the entire province will be wearing green this week, as will Rider fans all over Canada and around the world.  There are some in Norway too!

Here are two Weyburn Rider fans.  Don't you love Clare's green "necklace" or maybe a neckplate?  SK used to issue new licence plates every year so he has one from 1970, the year of his birth.
Sad to say, I don't even own a Rider shirt but maybe I'll have to go shopping this week.  I'm not an avid football fan but I do like to keep track and will certainly be watching this game on TV come Sunday afternoon.

Carter has another injury, thanks to a hockey game this time.  He ended up with a gash on his leg from an opponent's skate.  No stitches or cast needed this time though.

I am looking forward to a visit from Ardis this week.  She is flying to Regina on Tuesday and will stay at Laurel and Greg's.  I am driving the 1994 Mercury to Milestone and Ardis will take it back to Edmonton as her car has seen better days.  The heater quit last week, among other problems, so that meant time to move on to something different.  The weather and roads are iffy this time of year so we hope they will be okay by the middle of the week.  If not, she'll just have to stay a little longer!

Sask Tel is supposed to come out today to fix my phone line.  I haven't heard from them yet so I hope they are still on schedule.  I've been without it for a week so have to resort to my cell phone or email to keep in touch.  An update after supper: no fixer today and I won't be home tomorrow so we'll see what we can work out.  I am missing my Sask Tel bundle when it comes to long distance calls!

I made a quick trip to Estevan this afternoon to fix the left turn signal on the Mercury and to get some groceries at the 2 for 1 sale on at the Co-op.  Highway 18 was dry all the way.  There's a chance of snow tonight so hope we miss it.

Abbey had a special night last Friday, her first junior high dance!  Here are some pictures, thanks to Jodi.
A special dress for a special girl

Ab and friends ready for the dance - makeup, hairdos, new dresses!
I want to make a batch of flatbread to send back with Ardis so I better get at it now that I have some buttermilk on hand. I might get some ginger cookies mixed up tonight too.

Enjoy this exciting week in SK, especially if you happen to live in Regina.  The forecast for Sunday is sounding great for November 24th with a temperature right around 0ยบ C.  Tickets are being advertised at premium prices on kijiji, several for over $1000 each.  I'll be content to snuggle up in a blanket in front of the TV!
