SPECIAL DAYS

We have a week of special days to celebrate in the Johnson family so I'm combining them in one post.
April 8, 2000
August 2012
Kirk, Shauna, Carter, Jamie and Lindsay
On Monday, April 8, Kirk and Shauna celebrated their 13th anniversary.  They actually celebrated it last  weekend with a family trip to Minot.  Shauna found lots of good sales.  She's an expert at scouting out good deals!  Kirk and Shauna (Fornwald) were married in the little country church just up the road from our farm.  Kirk and his bestman Lyle, were busy washing pews, cleaning the wooden floor, dusting window sills preparing Salem for the big day.  Not many grooms get to do that!!  Theirs was the first (and last) wedding in that church since July1954 when Maxine Tenold married Gerald Olson of Birch Hills.

April 12, 1997
August 2012
Greg, Laurel, Eric, Dawson, Ashley
On Friday, April 12, Laurel and Greg Diekrager celebrated their 16th anniversary.  They were married in Regina at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.  Laurel's tulip bouquet was very suitable for a spring wedding and the weather was more springlike than it is this year.  On April 12, the roads around Regina were very icy with semis, an ambulance and a police car all in the ditch north of the city. The road from Regina to Lumsden was closed for a time due to the ice and accidents on that highway.

ET Go Home
(30 years ago on our trip to California)

On Monday, April 15, Todd will celebrate his 36th birthday at their home in Kristiansund, Norway.  This is a very special birthday for him - his first as a Dad!  Laurel and I missed being there for his birthday, but I did bring a lemon cake mix so Kristy can make his favourite lemon cake.  On Thursday I went to Crosby, ND for groceries and made a stop at a favourite store, J Co. Drugs.  I wasn't looking for a birthday present for you Todd, but when one jumps out at you, I couldn't resist.  You won't have this NHL Beanie Ballz in time for your birthday but he'll get to you someday.
Happy Birthday to a long time Flyer fan!
Aunt Viola on her 95th birthday, June 8, 2012
(with Lindsay, Carter, and Jamie Johnson, Ashley Diekrager)
On Friday, April 12 Aunt Viola (Johnson) Halvorson went to join many other family members in their heavenly home.  She would have been 96 years old in June, outlived all her siblings and many of her nieces and nephews.  She was an aunt when she was born as her niece Ruby was then a year old.  Her nieces and nephews enjoyed having such a young auntie who would take them along rabbit hunting and let them do things that their mothers would not have allowed!  She made sling shots, clothes pin "guns" and provided fun for children of all ages. I will do a blog about her later this week.  Her funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 16 at 1:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estevan.  Following lunch, interment will take place in Torquay Lutheran Cemetery.

Her obituary can be viewed at www.hallfuneralservices.ca
