SPRING FORWARD (but not in SK or AZ)

My cousin Doris sent me a cute cartoon that fits in well with this first day of Daylight Saving Time.  Although we don't turn our clocks ahead, we are affected by the changes that other provinces and states make.  The Torquay Port of Entry just four miles from our farm is now open at 8 a.m. and closes at 4:00 p.m. instead of 9 - 5 as the hours are in the winter.  Many national TV and radio programs are now an hour earlier.  Alberta is now on the same time as we are, Manitoba and North Dakota are an hour ahead.

Norway doesn't put clocks ahead for another three weeks, on Easter Sunday.  We have to keep that in mind when we place phone calls. I'm used to thinking seven hours difference, soon it will be eight so no calls after two pm when that happens.

This was Tim Horton's Brier week in Canada.  Twelve of the best teams in the country competed in Edmonton for the chance to represent their country at the World Curling in Victoria, BC.  It ended tonight with a win for Northern Ontario over Manitoba, a first for them.  Sometimes one missed shot made the difference between a win and a loss.  I think it takes nerves of steel to be a champion curler!

Looks like you are sitting on a bin, Abbey!

"I'm the king of the castle"
Clare, Jodi and Abbey came out yesterday afternoon.  They did some cleaning up in the shop and Abbey had fun climbing on "Johnson Mtn".  It was hard packed so will be around for a while.  It's a good thing we have lots of room to pile snow, unlike in the city like Regina where the yards are full and overflowing.  Even many of the roofs needed snow removal!

Eric wasn't thrilled about playing hockey on his 10th birthday last Friday as he was hoping to take some of his friends to a Regina Pats game in Regina.  But he ended up having a great evening as he scored a hat trick (3 goals for you non hockey fans) and helped his team win 6 - 3. He was a bit disappointed that no one threw a hat on the ice for him!  Here's a picture as he was ready to head out the door for the game.

The birthday boy off to his hockey game.
Carter's team finished their third round of playoffs in PeeWee hockey when they won by an overtime goal on Saturday in White City.  Greg, Laurel, Dawson, Eric and Ashley were there to cheer Lampman/Arcola on to victory.  Now they face a team from Warman, just north of Saskatoon, in the finals for that category.  They play the two games and the team with the most goals wins.  The first game will be in Warman, the second in Lampman.  Good luck, Carter and team!

I had a quiet day at home after attending services at Trinity this morning.  I did some reading, played a few games of Scrabble and organized my quilt making for tomorrow.  At six I settled in to watch "The Bible" which is continuing each Sunday evening on the history channel.  Parts of it were on the rough side with the Israelites in battles, Samson bringing down the pillars and killing himself and a thousand others in the buildings collapse,  David's affair with Delilah and so on.  But those are the stories of God's people, none of whom could keep the commands that God had established for their lives.  So God had another plan and the story continues of his plan to save his people from their sins.  Stay tuned as the story continues for the next three weeks.

I know that not all of you are on Facebook so I'll add a picture of Nora on her six month "birthday".  Can't wait to see you, Nora. (and Todd and Kristy too!)
Nora with her birthday present from Daddy.

I'm going to Kirk's on Tuesday after quilting
for a couple nights with the kids while Kirk and Shauna are in Regina.  Then on Friday I have a Dr. appointment in Weyburn and I'll carry on to Milestone for a day or two.  That's "God willing, weather permitting" as I remember a Frontier pastor saying when he gave his announcements at Sunday services.

And now I'm off to bed so I can be ready for a day of sewing tomorrow!  Have a great week.
