Back to Brooks and Rosebud

Nora and Todd with a welcome sign for Farmor (Fathers' mother)

I reread my blogs for the past month and must do some back tracking.  I had some of these pictures on Facebook but they didn't make it to my blog so today they will.

Our first face to face meeting
It was an exciting first meeting for me.  Nora has been meeting so many new faces but she's at a good age as she doesn't make strange yet.  Sadly, she won't remember all these firsts but pictures will document these meetings for her.  Here's the first picture of her with her parents and grandparents taken at Dan and Helga Ledene's in Brooks.  She also met her great grandma in Lethbridge that day too but I'll have to get that picture from Todd and Kristy's camera.

The next day Todd and I were off to Rosebud to meet with three of Howard's Bergum cousins and their spouses - Adrian and Joyce Bergquist of Camrose, Lawrence and Marlene Bergquist of Bawlf, Joel and Sheila Vinge of Cranbrook, BC.  We enjoyed a visit at our bed and breakfast, "Rose Cottage" before going for a short walk in the brisk cold evening to take part in a lovely dinner before the production of "Joe and May" in the theatre.  We all enjoyed the production, then went back to the cottage for snacks and visiting before bedtime.

"Dinnertime!"

Joel and Sheila were the first to leave in the morning as Joel had to be back in Cranbrook for a concert that evening.  Soon we had all said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.  Todd and I looked around the town, visited the museum and had lunch at a cafe.  Then we headed back to Brooks.  We were going right through Standard, where Todd's good friend Dave Bragg is from.  Dave was coming out from Calgary that afternoon so we stopped at his folks and visited before Dave got there.  Howard and I had visited them a few years ago so it was great to be in their home again.  Todd and I left after supper.  It was a cold evening but roads were good and soon we were back in Brooks in time to visit with Kristy's aunt and uncle that evening.  Another aunt and uncle joined the family for the church service on Sunday and dinner following at the Ledene home.  I enjoyed visiting with Rita (Salte) Roste as she joined her pastor husband Darrell for the morning service.  Rita is also a Lutheran pastor serving at Wetaskiwin.   In the afternoon we packed our bags and started on the first leg of the journey back to Torquay via my hometown of Frontier.  I did a brief post on our visit there but should update it with some pictures.
Best buddies
