THURSDAY - Late, again!

Sandra's table at their "Victoria Quilts" evening.

I might as well forget about doing Wednesday Words, as more often than not, I end up blogging on Thursday!

I didn't have a picture for my blog, but right after I posted it, I thought of Sandra's table setting so that's what you see above.  Her cobalt Moderntone dishes made a striking table with the orange accents.  The large flower in the centre as well as the "roses" in the cups are all made from folded serviettes.  I think she found the directions on Pintrest if you want to try them.

The best part of this week was meeting with Mandy, Rick, Drew and Ty on Tuesday evening in Estevan. Shauna, Carter, Lindsay and Jamie also joined us for supper at Houston Pizza.  Mandy had phoned and said they should be in Estevan by 7, but she would phone again when they were closer to Estevan.  I hadn't heard from them and it was after 6:30 so I called their number -- and quickly found out why I hadn't heard from them.  My cellular phone was out of minutes!  I was in the Co-op parking lot so ran over to the service station to see if they had Sask Tel phone cards.  They did, so I bought a $50 one, dialed  the cellular number to add my minutes and soon I had reached Mandy.  She had gotten in touch with Shauna and they were both puzzled as to my whereabouts as I didn't answer any of their calls.  Thank goodness they were able to communicate and had just ordered their supper.  So the lost was found!  We had a good visit over supper.  The Peakman's left shortly after eight as they were going on to Minot, then to Minneapolis the next day.  They are heading for Michigan to pick up a new fifth wheel camper so are making a holiday out of the trip.  The boys have their homework to do each day.  I think they were going to a Twins vs Blue Jay game tonight so I hope it was a good one.  (I had my camera in my purse and didn't even think to take a picture of our supper meeting!)

The worst part of the week is that St. Joseph's Special Care Home is in lockdown.  It would happen the day before Mandy's had planned to visit Howard.  Hopefully it will be over when they come through Estevan on their return trip next Wednesday.  They won't have to worry about motel stays then as they'll be able to make use of their camper!  As far as I know, Howard hasn't been sick so that's good news.  I'm planning to go in on Saturday so I hope the lockdown is over by then.

It's a chilly evening so I've been enjoying the cosy "fireplace" that came on Monday.  I had seen a full page ad in the Leader Post about these infrared heaters that were inserted in wooden "fireplaces" that are built by the Amish.  We have an infrared heater downstairs and I thought it would be good to have one on the main floor too. I ordered one the last weekend that I spent in Estevan.  This one has "flames" that appear to be burning behind the glass so it gives the feel of sitting by a cosy fire.  I'm liking it!

The weather is still unsettled.  I went out west with Clare this afternoon to get his pickup and fuel up the tractor over there.  It started raining about the time we got there so no field work after that.  He's planning to start seeding at home tomorrow.  I should do some yard and garden work.

Have a good rest of the week.
