MOTHER'S DAY

Lindsay and Grandma

Shauna, Kirk

Mother's Day, a day both happy and sad.  It was a happy day in that I was able to go to Lampman for granddaughter Lindsay's first communion and confirmation day.  I'm still not used to going to these special events alone and I doubt if I'll ever get used to it.  There were four girls and two boys in the class and a pew was reserved at the front for the families of each class member.  The girls looked so nice in their white dresses, short veils and red banners.  After the service and picture taking we went to Kirk and Shauna's for a delicious brunch.  Then I headed home and the sad part was not being able to stop at St. Joe's to visit Howard and Aunt Viola.  They have been in lockdown since last Monday.  I especially felt sorry for the mothers and grandmothers who could not have any visitors today.  Hopefully it won't last as long as the 19 day lockdown last winter.  Howard hasn't been one of the sick residents so I'm thankful for that.

Earlier in the month I had planned to go to Frontier for the 17th of May but it just doesn't seem the thing to do now, even if STC offers a $10 bus ride for seniors this month.  Maybe I'll be able to take advantage of it a little later.

I spent Saturday afternoon in Estevan, got my hair trimmed and did some shopping.  Again it didn't seem right to be in the city and not visit Howard.  He still has the phone in his room, but he isn't able to get to the phone by himself so I'm wondering if it's even worth keeping it. His coordination isn't good enough to dial the phone either, even if it just means pushing the picture of the person he wants to call.  I guess I should get an iPhone and then we could do some calling when I visit him.

Seeding should get underway tomorrow on the Johnson farm.  Clare has had to do some repair work on his drills so they should be set to go in the morning.  The weather forecast is good for the coming week.

Mothers Day is also a day to look back and remember precious times with my mother and grandmothers.  Every once in a while I'll think of something that I want to ask about, and there's no longer anyone with the answers.  I'm thankful for lots of pictures and saved letters over the years.

Well, I'm ready for a good night's sleep so will sign off for now.  I'll be back with a special 17th of May blog in honour of Norway's independence day.   See you then!
