Monday evening

I don't usually do a Monday blog but I missed Sunday so I'm really off schedule lately!  I'm planning to be back in Estevan on Thursday so you'll get a blog that day instead of on Wednesday.  Maybe I should forget about trying to keep a schedule!

Today was quilting at Trinity, always a good day.  We got a new supply of tops, thanks especially to Kay, so we kept busy all day.  We always take time for a great potluck dinner at noon.  It's good to gather around the table in the kitchen and visit as we enjoy each others cooking.  We have coffee breaks morning and afternoon.  Our Faith Circle met this afternoon for our monthly Bible study.  It works well to combine it with quilting day so there's no extra driving to get together in the winter.

Clare came to the farm this morning just before I left for quilting.  He brought a supply of wheat in from the granary so now I can grind some flour and bake again.  My flatbread mixes are all used up so that's on the agenda for tomorrow, along with a batch of ginger cookies.  Clare was busy hauling grain to Weyburn.  He'll never get a nicer January 9th for that job!  No snow to contend with plus mild conditions with hardly a breath of wind.  He got three loads in and may be back tonight to load up one more for tomorrow.

I got four quilt tops sewn last week but that won't happen this week.  Tomorrow is baking and cleaning day to get ready for moving back to Estevan by Thursday.  It has been a good time to be at the farm.  St. Joseph's Special Care Home has been in lockdown due to illness so Howard can't have company or leave that area.  He was confined to his room for a few days so it was much easier to reach him by telephone than when he is out and about.  He hasn't been sick so we are thankful for that.  He has been more talkative than usual so it's been easier to visit with him on the phone too.

There are several "round birthdays" in the Erickson family this year.  That's what they are called in Norway when you reach a birthday with a round number.  Tomorrow our great-niece, Tayha Rolfes, with be ten years old on the tenth of Januaray.  That's supposed to be your lucky birthday so we hope it's a great one.  I see on Facebook that you had a very special party on the weekend.  Your grandma Rolfes has some fun ideas for birthday parties!  Happy tenth birthday, Tayha.

Well, this is short, just wanted to update you with what's happening around here this week.  I'll be back later in the week.
