| Newborn Dawson at Regina General Hospital |
Eleven years ago today we became grandparents with the arrival of Dawson David Diekrager for Laurel and Greg. Here we are getting to know our first grandchild. The next picture was taken with a special friend and neighbour, Adolph Grimsrud. He would have celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday.

Dawson with Adolph
We won't be celebrating with Dawson today but hope to get together before too long.
I'm planning to head out to Torquay for service at Trinity at 10:30. (I won't be late today!) Our "Torquay Grannies are going to practice after coffee as we have been asked to sing at the monthly birthday party at St. Joseph's Special Care Home on Wednesday at 3:30. John Kiniak, formerly of Outram, is the only resident celebrating a birthday this month. He was 96 on Friday. We enjoyed having birthday cake with him that day. John, Howard and Willie Wanner were talking "old times".
I got another quilt top sewed together on the weekend, just have to press it and it's ready for Monday quilting. There's also quilting at Trinity, Estevan on Monday and Tuesday so I hope to join them on Tuesday, at least for the morning. I usually spend the afternoons with Howard.
Yesterday when I visited, a nurse told me that they are planning to move Howard to a room closer to the nursing station (the "oval office" as Howard calls it!) That way the staff can get to him sooner when he needs help during the night. An alarm goes off when he gets out of bed but sometimes by the time they get to his room, he has already gotten to the bathroom by himself. He has fallen a few times and they are anxious to prevent falls. Their fall prevention slogan is "Catch a falling star".
Well, it's breakfast time so I better sign off for now. Have a great week. The forecast if for milder temperatures than the minus 40 windchills we had for a few days this week. I'll add a birthday picture of Dawson when Laurel sends one this way. |
