Happy 76th Birthday, Howard.

The above picture was taken on April 10th at Milestone when we had Johnson family pictures taken.  Todd and Kristy were in Canada for her sister Danielle's wedding so we made use of the opportunity.

Howard was born on August 11, 1935.  His birth certificate lists his place of birth as SE 21-1-12 W of 2nd.  His family lived across the road from where Daniel and Tina Stepp live now.  The house was later moved to town by Earl Sovdi and is now the home of Don and Chris, formerly owned by Leonard and Lois Miller.

When Ben and Gina Johnson retired and moved to Torquay, Horace, Clara, Doris and Howard moved to this farm.  We became a Century Farm family in 2007.

Now Howard is a resident of St. Joseph's Special Care Home in Estevan.  Laurel, Dawson, Eric and Ashley came yesterday so we are off to visit Howard today.  We will take him out for lunch and have birthday cookies with afternoon coffee, his favorite peanut butter ones that Laurel made.

On the weekend of August 21, we will celebrate his birthday here at the farm.  Clare's and Kirk's will bring their trailers so the yard will become a campground again.  Trips to Crosby and Williston  are in the plans.  The annual service at Salem church will be at 10:00 on the 21st with each family to bring their own picnic lunch.  Everyone is welcome!

I still have a case and a half of peaches to take care of so will post some canning pictures soon.  I want to  do some pints this time and then make some peach pies to have in the freezer.  The rest we'll enjoy as peaches and cream or peaches on yogurt or just plain juicy peaches to eat out of hand.  Love those Elberta peaches!
