Thanksgiving Sunday

Today is one of those rare days - the tenth day of the tenth month of two thousand and ten. And it also happened to be our Thanksgiving Sunday. The second Monday in October is officially Canada's Thanksgiving Day but many of us celebrate it on the Sunday as family and friends often have to travel back home on Monday.

We were invited to Kirk and Shauna's for supper this evening. Clare and Jodi were combining so Abbey came along and had a good time with the cousins, as well as lots of good things to eat. Louise's family had gathered there yesterday to celebrate her 75th birthday. We got in on the birthday cake today too, as well as cabbage rolls, sausage, turkey and all the trimmings. They had put 75 candles on her cake and lit them all for her to blow out!

Carter and Kirk went to the Rider game in Regina yesterday but Carter wasn't impressed with the game, the Rider's first loss at home this season.

Today was a gorgeous day. The kids ate their meal outside on the deck. There aren't many Thanksgivings when you can do that in Saskatchewan!

The girls sang the "Johnny Appleseed" grace tonight and it seems a fitting close to a Thanksgiving blog :

"Oh, the Lord is good to me, and so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need, the sun and the rain and the appleseed,
The Lord is good to me! Amen! Amen! Amen, amen, amen. Amen."
