HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY, PAIGE!

On Tuesday we will be thinking of our great-niece, Paige Michelle Erickson who was born on this date in 2002 at Shaunavon Hospital weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces.  We were visiting in the area so got to see her when she was only two days old, so special.  Her parents are Devan and Michelle Erickson.  My brother Alan and Judy Erickson are her grandparents.  I was just thinking that she is their youngest grandchild.  Our oldest grandchild is nine so you can see that Alan got a head start on me!

When Paige was about two years old she did what many girls (and boys) have done - gave herself a haircut, or a bangs cut as you see in the above picture.  But the good thing about cutting hair is that it always grows back!

One of the things that Paige likes to do is to figure skate.  Here you see her in her poodle skirt taking part in a skating carnival.

Paige has two older brothers, Draven and Reese.  Here you see them all set to take part in a skating carnival in Redcliff.  We were on our way to Lethbridge and couldn't stay to watch them but had a quick visit at the rink and got a picture before we left.

Now this family is getting set to move to Shaunavon later this month as Devan has accepted a transfer there.   Paige will be back where she was born!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Shaunavon as that's where I started my teaching career in 1961.  I had just graduated from Teachers College in Regina after one year of training and took a class of thirty grade one students!  Those boys and girls were born in 1955 so that makes them 55 years old now!   A couple years ago the Hunter Family from Shaunavon sang at the annual July 1st Jamboree at Oungre, SK.  Lorne was one of those grade one students so it was fun to meet him and his wife along with their five sons.  I remembered that I have a picture of that class, so I'll post it here for fun.

I hope you meet some good friends and enjoy your move to Shaunavon, Paige.  You will be the new girl in the class so will be a very special person when you start school there.  Have a very Happy Birthday, Paige.

Aunt Ruth has a birthday on Wednesday so I'll do a special blog for her on her 89th birthday.  Look for it on the 13th.
