The girls entertained themselves playing dress up, climbing trees, catching frogs, watching slide shows of themselves on Grandma's iMac. The only time the TV was on was for the Rider game this afternoon. The Riders had defeated Winnipeg in the Labour Day classic and we had just finished our pizza supper when the power went out for an hour and a half. Clare's and Kirk's headed home as it started to rain around five o'clock with more in the forecast for tomorrow. Thanks to Kirk's help they were able to finish the lentils at home today.
The girls like to help make pizza. We made three so they each took charge of a pan. This time we made one hotdog pizza (the kids' favourite) and two pepperoni (too hot for Howard's liking!). Since it's Abbey's ninth birthday on Tuesday we had cake and candles for her. The highlight wasn't the cake, it was the "trick" candles that kept relighting after she blew them out.
I'll have to buy some more of those!
Tomorrow is Labour Day and I am going to take a holiday. No, I'm not going anywhere, except to the basement. There are lots of leftovers so I won't have to do any cooking. I didn't get at my new sewing machine last week so that's my project for tomorrow. It isn't often that I get a Labour Day without harvesters to cook for so I'm going to take advantage of a rainy day and do just what I please!
I didn't get much garden in this year but I can't be without my flowers! This year I planted Four O'Clocks on the south side of the old John Deer tractor and they are in full bloom now so I shared a picture of them at the beginning of the blog.
I want to share a picture of my favorite apron too, a gift from a lady who stayed here for the Schnell wedding. It's so cheerful and full of cupcakes. I always wear an apron when I'm baking so it will get lots of use.
We will have a change in our time of worship at Trinity. Starting next Sunday we will have service at 8:30 instead of 11:30. That way Pastor Cicely can still have service at 9:45 at Bromhead and then go to Midale for an 11:30 service. It will be for a trial period of six months. That time should be fine for us so we hope that we can continue to have service at Trinity by making this change.
STC has special rates for seniors again this month so we really must do some travelling in September when we can ride for $10 each anywhere in SK that STC goes!
I'm working on a book of pictures of Howard and Ardis' birthday party through Shutterfly. They have a special on until Wednesday so it's good to have a deadline. I just need to check it over and maybe make a couple changes and then it can be printed. It's a slick way of doing a picture album as I never seem to get my pictures organized and put in a book. If I'm really organized I might even order copies of our family pictures to enclose with our Christmas letter.
Happy Birthday to three special people this week: Ardis and Abbey on Tuesday and Shauna on Thursday.
