BLUE JAYS TRIP

View from our seats in section 118
(in the shade for two very sunny afternoon games!)
We returned home on Monday afternoon from our second bus trip to Minneapolis with Stagecoach Tours from Weyburn.  It was another great trip with perfect weather for the three games against the Twins.  The Blue Jays won two of them plus the one on Thursday that wasn't included in our trip.  By the looks of all the BLUE in the crowd the Blue Jays might have had more fans than the home team! There was a lot of cheering for them too! The Twins haven't been doing very well lately, are at the bottom of their division, so their fans aren't turning out in large numbers.

We went as far as Fargo last Thursday, then to Minneapolis on Friday for the game that evening.  It was such a perfect night with a full moon coming up behind the skyscrapers.
The Saturday and Sunday games were at 1:00 in the afternoon.  On Saturday the bus took us to the Mall of America after the game and we had until 9:00 to shop, eat, whatever.  It was Alan's birthday that day so we went to Ruby Tuesday for his birthday supper.  He enjoyed a shrimp meal.  Here he is ready to dig in!
Shopping is NOT his favourite pastime, but he survived the evening, even consented to visiting the Ikea store close to the Mall.  That got to be too much walking so we won't do that again! ( I did find the picture shelves that I've been wanting though!)

The bus left for Fargo following the Sunday game.  We stopped at a mall a few miles north of Minneapolis and enjoyed supper at The Pot Belly.  On the way down we had stopped there too and ate at Red Lobster.

Eating at the ballgames is pricey!  You aren't allowed to bring in any food or drinks, bags and purses are checked on your way in.  Hotdogs are $6 as are soft ice cream waffle cones.  But what's a ballgame without treats!  Alan says prices are much higher in ToToronto.

There were several fans there from Torquay but we didn't see the Skjonsbys or Terretts in that crowd.  Some of them came by train and stayed in a hotel right near Target Field.  It might be fun to try that next time!  We won't be coming by motorhome, Stephen!  In that busy city we'll leave the driving to others.  We'll take the road south of Torquay before living in a bustling city with lanes of traffic!

Clare, Jodi and Abbey had hoped to take in the games too, but tractor trouble and drill problems delayed seeding and meant no Blue Jays trip this spring.  Abbey's favourite player is Troy Tulowitzki so I took these pictures when he was up to bat.

We were blessed with a good rain on Wednesday and it's still raining this morning, just what was needed to get the crops off to a wonderful start.

This is a busy week as we are getting new flooring laid in the kitchen.  Next blog I'll show you pictures of before and after!

We are off to Weyburn this afternoon as I am going to be wearing a 24 hour blood pressure monitor.  That means a trip back tomorrow to have it removed!  My blood pressure seems to fluctuate quite a bit so this will help determine how to treat that problem. (Update: the monitor has been delayed until June 8.)

I will sign off for now and be back next week for an update.  Enjoy these last days of May.
