Update on Sunday: I'll add some dance pictures and one of our apple tree in bloom, just in time for Mothers Day. Jodi and Abbey joined us for blueberry pancakes and bacon before heading back to Weyburn this afternoon. It was good to have some of the family here today.
We brought the service truck out to Clare this afternoon and took out some supper at the same time so just made one trip "down east" today. They plan to move "out west" tomorrow but will come back later to finish seeding the east land.

It's still Saturday but I feel that I've had Mothers Day today! Abbey and I left the farm around 8:30 this morning and headed for Lampman as the girls had their dance recital at 10:00. We found a spot in the parking lot at the school, went in and found spots in the row behind Kirk, Shauna and Carter. Laurel was on her way but said she'd be a few minutes late. I felt bad as Lindsay's solo was fourth on the program and it didn't look like Laurel and Ashley would make it in time.
Not to worry, an announcement was made that the program would be starting late as the fellow taking videos had to make a trip back to Estevan for a much needed item! It was 10:25 when the lights were dimmed and the program got underway. By that time Laurel and Ashley were in their seats beside me! For Lindsay's birthday back in February Laurel had found such a cute dress for her. It was just perfect for her Lyrical solo to "Fight Song". Here's a picture of Lindsay in the dress.

The program rolled along without a hitch and with a great emcee, a fellow from Weyburn who is a radio announcer! Lindsay and Jamie were in ten of the twenty-eight numbers so were busy changing costumes. Shauna was busy helping with those and the hairdos! It was a very enjoyable morning. It was over just before 12 and we headed over to Kirk and Shauna's for a tasty lunch with Kirk doing BBQ sausages along with the salads, perogies and two yummy cream filled cakes for dessert. Here are a few pictures. On the way home Abbey treated me to a milk shake at DQ. Thanks Abbey. I hadn't had one of those for a long time!

Now I'll back up and take you back to last Sunday when I drove to Milestone for Ashley's dance recital. Here she is in her jazz costume. She loves dancing to music and it showed on her face and in her movements. The table of raffle items is just behind her. I bought ten tickets and dropped them off in bags of my choice beside the many donated items.
The draws were done in the second half of the program between dances and one of my #755 tickets was drawn for the pile of goodies just to Ashley's left - two T shirts and a beautiful handmade pen donated by C Moore and Sons, a $25 gift certificate, two more T shirts and a cap, a Rider cover for an iPhone 4 which I have! Quite a haul for one person but it was shared - the T shirts fit Alan, Dawson and Eric, Ashley claimed the farm cap, my iPhone now has a new cover and I have a lovely new pen. My lucky day and another Mothers Day!

The next picture is of Alan's oldest grandson, Bram. He started playing soccer when he was three. Now 17, he is coaching a team of youngsters in this game that he loves. Way to go, Bram!

Seeding got underway this week with lentils going in on the land close to home. Clare was just getting ready to move to the land six miles east of here when the tractor gave problems - a broken driveshaft, not good news. Parts won't be here until next week -from Chicago! Fortunately he was able to rent a tractor from a fellow who is going out of farming and won't be using it this spring. So he's back at it today on the land "down east". He was so thankful that it broke at home and not in transit! There's rain in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday so he wants to get as much done as he can before then. Some early seeded crop is up just south of town! The hot weather had really brought the leaves out on the trees too and we've been enjoying fresh asparagus and rhubarb sauce! (I guess I should say I have as neither one is Alan's favourite!)
I'm going to close for now but I may add more tomorrow when it's the REAL Mothers Day!
