RAIN!

Rhett's first taste of food since April 24th
I will surprise you (and me!) and get my blog post done on Sunday!

Last Tuesday we had 8/10 inch of rain as I reported on my last post. I was hoping to get some gardening done but we had more rain on Friday along with thunderstorms.  The gauge showed over two and a half inches!  The slough north of here that had been seeded for the first time in many years is now full of water again.  But we aren't complaining as the rainfall was spotty when it comes along with thunderstorms.  Today when we drove out of town after church, sprinklers were going on a lawn by the highway.  Torquay just had half an inch on Friday.

Clare went on a fishing trip to Big Shell Lake north of Saskatoon on Friday.  He was feeling a bit guilty about going but he didn't miss any field work with the heavy rainfall that we got.  He also  visited his godchild Rhett in Saskatoon.  Here's a picture of him with Rhett and also one of his catch of fish.  Rhett passed the swallow test so had a taste of a DQ cone this past week!

I want to be sure you know about the 100th anniversary for Trinity Lutheran Church at Torquay.  This poster designed by Lauren Daae has all the information about it.  We hope to see many of you there! There will not be a morning worship service at Trinity that day as the worship service will be in the afternoon instead. There is no charge for the banquet but we do need to know how many meals to order from the caterer by June 14.

The Blue Jays are doing very well since we saw them last week in Minneapolis.  They have won five games in a row now!

Kirk's are trying out their new (to them) boat today so I will post pictures when I have some to add.  It looks like they had fun!

On Saturday our accordion group. Homespun Harmonies, is playing at Mainprize Manor in Estevan at 2:00.  After coffee with the residents, our group will go out for supper.  I'll tell you about it in my next post.

Next weekend will be a tough one for the Sanford/Corcoran families.  Blaine was born on Fathers Day in 2008 and would have been seven years old on June 15.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them. These special days, along with every normal day, will never be the same without Blaine's presence with them. Our hearts ache for the loss they are going through.  I cherish the precious memories of this greatnephew who left us so suddenly and so young.  Here are two special pictures.
