Strong winds last week broke off a branch from one of the old trees just south of the house. A young deer was happy to nibble on the leaves and I took this picture from the living-room window.'
These June days seem to be flying by! It's Tuesday and I'm just getting at my blog this evening.
Last weekend was especially busy. Jodi and Abbey came to the farm on Friday evening after Abbey was back from their class field trip to Kenosee. On Saturday morning Abbey went with Alan and me to Estevan. After lunch at A&W we met Shauna and the girls at the Co-op and Abbey went to Lampman with them.
Alan and I then went to Midtown Manor where "Homespun Harmonies" was booked to play that afternoon. Our group that day all had Torquay connections - Gerry and Myrna Linn, Susan (Mossing) Moser, Vickie Skjonsby and myself. We played for an hour and then joined the residents for coffee and goodies. A couple of them asked about my granddaughter as Ashley has been there with me a couple times. She wore her ballet outfit and danced to our music. We'll have to have her play with us again soon. The seniors especially enjoy having children come to visit.
The Blue Jays were playing ball in Chicago but Alan didn't miss it. He listened to the game on the car radio and planned to come in when the game was over. He wasn't in when we finished our hour of playing so I went out to see if he'd fallen asleep. But the game was in extra innings and it ended just as I got to the car! The Jays won!
Our group went out for an early supper, then Alan and I stopped in for a visit with Bob and Phyllis Hurren before heading for Lampman for the night.
Sunday was a special day for Jamie, her first communion and confirmation. She looked like a bride in her beautiful white dress and veil. Here are some pictures from the day.

I worked on updating this post before I went uptown for church cleaning on Wed. morning. Before I left I discovered that the update hadn't been saved so here I am on Wed. evening trying to put it all back again!
A lovely brunch was served in the church basement in Lampman after the service on Sunday - scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrown casserole, pancakes, French toast and all kinds of fresh fruit. We went to Kirk's for Jamie's gift opening, then we changed clothes and headed for the ball diamond as Lindsay's ball team had a double header starting at three. They won both and came from being way behind in the second to winning 16 -13. Kirk was the ump for that one! It was seven o'clock when the games ended so the hot supper that Shauna had all ready in crock pots at the house really hit the spot as it was cool sitting out in the breeze. A reminder: when you are in SK, take a warm jacket along even in the summer! Jamie requested pie for dessert and we had our choice of three - rhubarb, rhubarb and strawberry or apple crisp!

June 15th was Blaine's 7th birthday. Jason, Marion and Katie were home from Saskatoon for a brief stay. Blaine's grade one class at school had cupcakes to celebrate Blaine's birthday in heaven. His school picture will move on with his class every year until they graduate.

Now for an update on Rhett. Today he had tests on muscles and nerves. He will wear the halo at least until July 23 but the angle was changed so he doesn't have to have his head tilted back so far. He is also able to eat more foods, but will keep the feeding tube for a while yet. He may be discharged from hospital next week! He is doing very well!
