EASTER MONDAY

Easter Sunday was a full day so I didn't get at my blog post until Monday evening.  We spent most of today getting things back in order after lots of action on Sunday.

We started Easter Sunday with the traditional sunrise service at Trinity.  Some of the traditions have changed, like starting at 8:00 now instead of the 6:30 start we remember from earlier years!  The hard boiled eggs for breakfast are no longer served either.  Yesterday we had several variations of the "wife saver" hot dish along with cinnamon rolls and a fruit tray. Abbey took care of hiding Easter candy for the children's egg hunt after breakfast.

It was good to have Clare, Jodi and Abbey with us for the morning service.  I enjoyed hearing Clare's bass voice singing the triumphant Easter hymns.  Laurel's stopped in Weyburn for the 10:00 service at Zion as our 8:00 service was just too early to make it from Milestone.  Kirk's had been to the Sat. evening service at Lampman so we had all been to an Easter service.  Todd's were back in Kristiansund that day.

We had our turkey dinner around two, then watched the final game of the men's brier from Halifax.  We were sorry that Canada didn't make the final but enjoyed the curling match between Norway and Sweden.  Of course we were cheering for the Norwegians but the Swedes were the winners this time.  To concede the victory to Sweden, Thomas Ulsrud had a special delivery for his last rock.  He sent the rock rolling down the ice on its side!

With four men here for the day we made use of all this manpower!  First they moved a treadmill downstairs from Kirk's pickup.  The treadmill had been Shauna's mother's so Alan and I will make good use of it when the weather isn't great for walking outdoors.
After that, out went a stereo/record player that no longer works, metal bunk beds that were in the office, a metal crib from the family room downstairs, the patchwork hide a bed and matching chair that were in the old house before this one was built in 1979!  The hide a bed was very heavy but after the cushions, mattress and metal springs were removed it was taken out the patio door and went right to the burning pile!  That pile of dead trees, pallets and assorted "junk" had been waiting for good burning conditions.  With snow cover and very light winds, Sunday was perfect for that job.  The living-room looks very spacious now.  We have carpet coming from the Floor Store sometime this month so it was great to get several items out of the way before that happens.  We are also getting new flooring in the office to replace the carpet that has been there since the house was new, as was the carpet in the living-room.  Now we are looking forward to a new look in those two rooms.

It was sloppy outside with several inches of new snow and around zero temperatures.  The grandkids enjoyed some time outdoors and also played games in the basement. Ashley and Jamie enjoyed their usual "dress-up" fun.

Later in the afternoon we had birthday cake and cupcakes in honour of Lindsay, Ashley and Eric who had birthdays in Feb.and March.

I also want to tell you about the windup for Club DJ that was held last Sunday at Trinity.  The club meets at Trinity every Monday after school with around 30 children registered.  Thanks to Cindy Daae for the following write-up.
"Our Club DJ car rally wind-up at Trinity Lutheran Church in Torquay was a huge success.  We held it Sunday, March 29th at 3:00.  We had a short program in the sanctuary with the children singing a medley of five songs, memory verse recitation and Club DJ awards for achievement.  We headed into the auditorium where the children raced their wooden cars on a race track.  Most of the cars were designed at home with the help of parents using a kit.  There were 94 people attending the afternoon event.  It was thrilling to see the excitement of kids, parents and grandparents alike."

Well, the turkey bones are cooked and ready to make into soup tomorrow.  Now it's bedtime so will add some pictures tomorrow.  Have a wonderful week of school holidays those of you in SK.
