VALENTINES DAY!!

I have always liked the heart symbol so Valentines Day seemed  a perfect day for a wedding.  That's how Alan and I celebrated this day - we got married!!  And we did it our way - it was very simple and kept a secret until after the ceremony.  Todd, Kristy and Nora surprised us with their visit in December so now it was my turn to surprise everyone and we managed to do it too.

Our witnesses were Marilyn and Ray Scheske . Alan and I both went to school with Marilyn at Frontier High School.  Marilyn and Ray's cosy living-room was the perfect setting, complete with fireplace on this blustery winter afternoon.

A special gift from Marilyn and Ray
It was a good thing we didn't book having photos taken that afternoon as it was very stormy until later in the day.  Marilyn and Ray drove us to the Lakeshore where we enjoyed a very nice wedding supper, again with a cosy fireplace setting.

The next day we had our photos taken on a much milder day with no wind blowing or snow falling.

A special thank you to Marilyn and Ray for graciously hosting our wedding and being our witnesses.  Your extra touches meant so much - setting up an altar with a bouquet of red roses, having a special luncheon with a wedding cake decorated with hearts, and a champagne toast.  You helped make our day extra special. Your suggestion for the Lakeshore for our wedding supper was perfect as was the Royal Executive Hotel close by.  We enjoyed a room service breakfast on Sunday morning!

Today is Marilyn's birthday so a very Happy Birthday, Marilyn. You caught up to me today!  Also I want to wish a special cousin, Myrna (Gilchrist) Damm a very Happy Birthday in Yuma, AZ a day late. You caught up to me too.  February 1942 was a great month!

Alan and I are enjoying our first overnight visitors - Laurel, Eric and Ashley.  We had pancakes and bacon for breakfast and now Laurel has chicken buns and a salad ready for lunch.  We'll enjoy wedding cake, ice cream and raspberries  for dessert.

Alan loves to watch curling so that's how we'll spend our honeymoon week - watching the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on TV from the love seat in the living-room!  We'll do some travelling later on, perhaps even to Norway.  A trip down the Oregon coast is also in our future plans.  Alan now calls Torquay his home and will be selling his mobile home at Bon Accord, AB.  It is great not to be 600 miles apart anymore!
