| HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THE UNITED STATES |
Wednesday was not my favourite day this week. Alan left this morning and I had a dentist appointment this afternoon. I had a root canal and a temporary crown put on. One more visit should finish my dental work. (Thanks to my neighbour Daniel for giving me a ride to Estevan)
It was wonderful to have Alan here. He got to meet all my family over several days. I had an appointment for an echocardiogram (ultra sound of the heart) on Nov.21 in Regina. We went up in the morning and had lunch with Marilyn and Ray Scheske. Marilyn, Alan and I had all gone to High School together in Frontier. (And I didn't think to get a picture of the three of us!) Following my 1:40 appointment, we drove to the Diekrager farm where he met Laurel, Greg and family. Then we stopped in Weyburn for a short visit with Jodi and Abbey. Clare was on his way home from the farm so he and Alan got acquainted there. (and he left a cute note for us "teenagers")
On Saturday afternoon we made a trip to Ambrose for the mail, then went to Kirk and Shauna's in Lampman for supper. (She had made ribs, Alan's favourite!) Then we were off to the hockey game between Lampman and Milestone with two of my grandsons competing against each other. I got to cheer for both teams! After the second period it was 8-2 for Lampman so it looked like it was going to be a lopsided game. But Milestone started scoring goals while Lampman players spent time in the penalty box. In fact the score keeper had to call for another score sheet as he was out of space! Carter scored for Lampman and Dawson scored for Milestone so each grandson got a goal. The game ended up at 10 to 9 for Lampman so was a close game in the end. It was too rough for my liking though. Dawson got checked from behind and went into the boards and window just in front of us. The Lampman player got a major penalty for that and will miss the next game too. Contact hockey is not fun for Grandma to watch!
On Sunday morning we were off to Trinity for service at nine followed by coffee fellowship. There was world curling plus two CFL games to watch on TV so it kept Alan busy switching channels.
We enjoyed a Facetime visit with Todd and Nora. The connection wasn't very good but we did get to see Todd's "Movember' moustache! Nora recognized Farmor and called Alan, Bestefar! Todd said they hadn't heard her use that word for grandpa as she calls Kristy's dad "Morfar". Alan has four grandchildren so he qualifies as Bestefar.
This week we tackled the oak cupboards in the kitchen using extra fine steel wool and lemon oil. What a difference that made! The 35 year old cupboards look almost like new again. I did the bottom ones and Alan did the top ones so we made a good team.
On Tuesday we made flatbread. Alan worked in the margarine and dry ingredients with the pastry blender for four batches and did very well in rolling out flatbread too!
So it's quiet tonight as I catch up on my blog. I was glad to find a message on the phone that Alan made it to his sister's in Gull Lake about 3 this afternoon. The road to Estevan was icy in places so I'm sure he had some icy roads to drive on too. He plans to go to Frontier on Thursday and back to Bon Accord on Friday if weather and roads cooperate. Now it's my turn to travel the 600 miles but I will take the bus sometime in the new year.
My appointment for an EEG in Regina on Dec. 2 was changed to Dec. 12 so I have a break until the next one. Then I will wait to see the neurologist in January and find out if I can drive again!! I am so thankful for friends and neighbours who come to my rescue!
