The weekend was busy, even with some variable weather. Kirk, Carter, Lindsay and Jamie came out on Sat. morning. Jodi and Abbey brought out a yummy supper later that afternoon. There was a shower of rain about four so it was a short day, but nice that all eight guys could come in and eat at six! Then Jodi and Abbey went back to Weyburn as Jodi's mom is still in the hospital there. I had cinnamon rolls in the freezer so we had those and some oatmeal porridge for breakfast on Sunday. The grandkids were happy to have pancakes after church, along with scrambled eggs. It was another short day of harvest with supper at six. That might change this week!
Today I had a dental appointment at 9:30 for a checkup and cleaning. Dr. Crooks found a filling in a front tooth that needs doing so I'm going back next week to get that done. He also suggested doing a crown for a back tooth that has a chip out of it. I'm thinking about that one!!
It was good to get Ruby washed and then I headed for the Co-op to fill my grocery cart. I am thankful for a willing staff member who unloaded it for me as each one of those those bags was over ten pounds! When I got home, I took a few things in at a time and left some non perishables for Clare to bring in when he comes in from the field.
I had just got in the door at home when the phone rang. It was Jeff, my former boarder from the border. He has seven days off so it was a good time to call. He works at the port of Sarnia and says there are a lot of online shoppers down there too. He told of a fellow who makes a business of providing a facility in the US where Can shoppers can have their parcels sent and pick them up there for $5 a package! (Sh! Don't tell the guys at New Century Ag in Ambrose or they might raise theirs too!)
Kirk and Shauna have a new king size bed, but no flannel sheets to fit it. I think they'll be okay for the next week or two, but they had me order a set from Amazon.com. Their Pinzon flannel are the only brand I'll order now.
It looks like I'll have to do something with my tomato crop as we can't keep up to eating them. I covered them when there were frost warnings, but didn't on Sat. as Estevan forecast plus 3. Some were touched with frost that night, but most survived.

It's a good thing that Clare takes pictures as I didn't have any to add to my post this week. He's taken many good rainbow ones. I'm hoping he doesn't see any rainbows this week, just beautiful sunshine! Happy and safe harvesting to all the farm families out there.

I saw you at Dr.Crooks office today as I was there also! They also tried to talk me into a crown which I am also THINKING about. We are in the wrong business!! Have to sell 3 cows to get a crown!! I think I need a dental vacation to Mexico!!
ReplyDeleteMexico sounds like a good idea, Christa. Sorry I missed you at the office. I probably walked by your "cubicle" and didn't look in. Next time give me a holler, unless your mouth is full of rubber or other apparatus!
