I made a quick trip to the farm on Tuesday to pick up a few things. I stopped in Torquay to get over a weeks worth of mail, then went to Ambrose to do the same. I had to stop at New Century Ag in Ambrose for some deliveries by UPS. Good thing they weren't all for me! I mailed two parcels to Norway at the post office. They have a Priority Mailing envelope that goes airmail overseas for about $14 CDN. You get a tracking number so you can follow the package to its destination. It usually takes a week or so to get to Kristiansund, depending on how long it takes to go through customs. There's a limit of four pounds but it's surprising what can be packed in at that limit. Yesterday's package to Todd and Kristy was 3 ounces over so I took out the Credit Union "pocket pal" for 2012 and then it was one ounce under! The mail may be a bit slower during this busy season. I also sent our Christmas letter to friends and family in the US. It goes so much faster when mailed in the US. I also paid our box rental, but only paid for half a year as the future of Ambrose PO is uncertain.
It was fun to find the first Christmas letters in our mailboxes. Ed and Audrey Hedlin's letter was the first to arrive in Torquay and Jim and Carolyn Nestingen's in Ambrose. It's great to keep in touch!
I took a picture of the oil well that is now in production just east of "the Mossing farm". Seismograph workers were busy in the area too but I didn't get a picture of the helicopter just north of Salem church.
There's a lot of traffic in the area. I even met a bus that was bringing workers back to Estevan after their shift south of Torquay.
