Nativity scene atop Laurel's china cabinet
Today I was off to Torquay for morning worship at 10:30 followed by our annual Christmas smorg. It's kind of an organized potluck dinner. Torquay Ladies Aid bought two turkeys and ten pounds of hamburger for meatballs and the rest of the food is donated. Tressa put up a list of items needed and people chose what they would like to bring. I think there were a few blanks but some phone calls soon had them filled. This is one occasion when don't use our china plates. It's kind of a gift to the ladies so there isn't as much time spent in the kitchen sink following the meal. We even had a couple men drying dishes today! We served dinner to 51 and sent several plates home to Torquay seniors with a meal ready to pop in the microwave.
Well, I didn't get far on Sunday evening. It's now Monday morning so I better finish this before heading over to Lilah Daae's for our Faith Circle meeting at 10:30. We usually meet at 1:30 in the afternoon but for our Christmas one we have a potluck lunch at noon after our study. We won't be a big group this morning. We will be thinking of Inis as she and Art now live in Saskatoon. Doris and Allan have gone south for the winter. Heather is away for a few days and Vi can't make it today either. That leaves Narrie, Lilah and me. We look forward to a good study and fellowship over our noon lunch.
This will be a busy week as I am planning to move back to the farm this weekend, just for the Christmas holidays. I still have some Christmas mail to get off, some flatbread to make and then I better do some house cleaning before I leave! Susan is actually back in SK, not by choice but because of medical reasons. She tore her Achilles tendon while playing tennis in Mesa. It requires surgery so Sask Health flew her back to Regina on Saturday. I saw a picture of her in a hospital bed cuddling her little granddaughter but I haven't heard anything about the surgery schedule. We pray that it will happen soon.
I'm hoping to go to Milestone on Friday for Laurel's birthday. It's also 46 years since Howard and I were engaged to be married so I better spend part of the day with him! On Saturday it's Jody and Clare's anniversary. Abbey is in a curling spiel that day and has her Sunday School Christmas program that evening. On Sunday morning our Torquay Grannies have been asked to sing, "There's a Song in the Air" at Faith Lutheran's 10:30 service in Estevan. I'll let you know if I make it to all those events! |
Today Kirk returns from his business trip to Miami, Florida. It included some golf and a football game and some hot weather. I hope that he used sunscreen! Also today, Kristy's sister Jenny flies back to Canada after spending two weeks with Kristy and Todd in Kristiansund and area. Our prayers are for safe travels.
And now I better get off the computer and get a few things done before I head over to Lilah's. It's a bit misty out this morning so I hope there's no freezing rain!
