I have lots of blogging to catch up on but will start with today. We went to service at Trinity Torquay for the first time in a long time. It was good to be back with our Trinity family. It was at 8:30 a.m. so we were back home early.
After lunch we headed for Milestone where we were scheduled to meet Kaela Gilchrist at the school for family pictures. On the way we stopped in Weyburn, were just in time to see Abbey's group do their jazz number in the Weyburn Dance competition. She looks so at home on stage - great rhythm, a big smile and a team leader. A great performance, Abbey!
Then we were off to Milestone. We enjoyed a beef on a bun with salad lunch while the seven grandkids wore off some pent up energy in the gym as Kaela was getting everything set up. Each family had several poses taken plus the seventeen of us in a family picture. Tonight we got an email of all the pictures. How's that for service! We had fun going through them and were very happy with the results. She suggested that we coordinate our clothes by all wearing shades of blue and that worked out well. Most of us wore blue jeans and the two little girls wore dresses with blue. Laurel suggested that I bring the little wicker rocker that I got when I was about two years old so Ashley posed in that. I'm anxious to see the pictures in frames now!
On our way home we stopped at Tim Hortons in Weyburn for coffee and Timbits. It took awhile as they are always busy. When we came to Long Creek south of Torquay we could see that the water was almost over the road on the north side of the bridge. We drove two miles farther on and when we turned and headed west we drove through water in two spots. Then we came to the third one - a wide stream of fast moving water was rushing over the road at "Mossing's coulee". We stopped at the top of the hill, unsure of whether to try it or not. There were vehicle lights on the other side so we got out of the pickup and walked down to get a closer look. Soon that vehicle came toward us through the rushing water. It was our neighbours to the north, Daniel and Tina Stepp and family. Daniel said it was okay for our pickup to drive through, just keep to the left side of the road and follow him. Todd proceeded right behind Daniel while Kristy and I prayed! We made it through safely and were so thankful that Daniel was there to guide us. The delay at Tim Horton's turned out to be a good thing as the timing was perfect to meet up with Daniel.
When we got home we were happy to see that our new boarder from Ontario was home safely too. He just arrived on Saturday afternoon so spent Sunday driving around the area to check out the nearby cities of Weyburn and Estevan. He came through that coulee about half an hour before us with his Honda Civic. Jeff is due to start work tomorrow at Oungre port of entry and at Torquay port on Tuesday. If that water keeps running he might not be able to get to either one! We can't go north either as there's water over the road south of Salem. Daniel has a vehicle on the other side so they can walk through the water from one vehicle to the next. We'll have to wait and see what the morning brings. We might have to take the Stepp taxi to get out of here!
Time to wind this up and retire for the night as I am the last one up. More tomorrow on the drama of springtime at the Johnson farm.
