MID SEPTEMBER

Yes, it's almost fall and we have gone from summer weather to fall like weather this past week.  We went to Estevan on Friday as our Homespun Harmonies group played for the monthly birthday party at Midtown Manor that evening.  We had to dig out our sweaters! Our group of ten met at The Beefeater for a supper together at 5:00.  This included husbands too, a good chance to get better acquainted over a good meal.

Midtown Manor has many vacancies so their turnout was smaller too.  The birthday cake was cut in Large pieces and was delicious along with ice cream and tea or coffee.

Last Tuesday three of us entertained at a seniors home in Stoughton.  Those residents were so fun to play for as they joined in singing heartily with most of the old time songs that we played.  We were treated to homemade baking there along with coffee or tea and an invitation to come back next month.

Last week was an exciting one as five of us made plans to fly to Victoria, BC on Oct. 4 to 8!  We will celebrate Sandra's 65th birthday there on the 5th as well as my 75th that happened Feb. 10. Sandra's girls, Mareena and Mandy as well as my daughter Laurel, will be in on the trip.  Mandy and her husband Rick have been to Victoria so she is a great one to help with planning. She will rent a car and do the driving for us.  A cottage by the sea has been rented for the five days.  First event on the list is to visit Butchart Gardens!  Howard and I were there 49 years ago so there will be some changes since then!

Harvest is close to being done but the 3/4 or an inch of rain put a stop to that for a while.  Clare has peas and flax left on the land over east.  The lentils out west weren't worth doing at 4 bushels per acre so crop insurance will help to cover that loss.

Grandkids are busy with sport events.  Abbey enjoyed taking in some of the Pinty's World Tour of Curling with the girls on her curling team.  Laurel and Ashley took in a game too.  Ashley was thrilled to get 17 autographs and several pictures with curlers.

Abbey had her 16th birthday on Thursday, September 7 . We were able to go and have a birthday supper with her, Jodi and Clare at Browns Socialhouse, our first time there.  She had volleyball practice first so it was a late supper but we didn't mind.  It was fun to celebrate with one of the birthday girls that day.  We missed being with Ardis in Edmonton and Nora in Norway who turned 5 that day.  Here's Abbey with flowers from her great Auntie Ann.

Nora celebrated her 5th birthday at Barnehage and here are two pictures of the birthday girl wearing her birthday crown.  She had a party at home that Saturday

Abbey took part in a volleyball tournament this past weekend in Yellow Grass.  The Weyburn Eagles won gold!

Lindsay enjoyed getting her room redecorated last weekend  with a bigger bed, new bedding and headboard set along with pink paint on the walls.

Well, it's time to finish this blog post.  We are going to Weyburn on Monday morning to get an oil change and some work done on the Escape with an appointment at nine.  Alan has a Dr. appointment in the pm to get prescriptions renewed.  That will take care of most of the day!  Have a good week.
