MERV AND JAN'S 50th ANNIVERSARY

When the reunion was in the planning stages, we wanted to do some special things and Sandra started thinking about Merv and Jan's wedding that took place 50 years ago on August 5.  She was one of the bridesmaids so she hunted around and found the dress that Mom had made for her to wear that day.  When she found it she started thinking of all the items of clothing that Mom had sewn for us and for the grandchildren.  She called me and I thought it was a great idea to bring these clothes and have a fashion show.  We both had kept a lot of them, most never worn again but with all the work put into them it was just hard to part with things that Mom had made and that were irreplaceable.  So we both searched closets, boxes, drawers and found just what we needed.  The girls had kept a few special dresses too so the word went out - bring any clothing that Grandma had made to the reunion and we will have a fashion show one evening.  Mandy was the official photographer for the reunion.  They are still holidaying in the US so I won't be doing a fashion show blog until they are home.  Watch for it coming soon!

Sandra was the narrator for the show.  Laurel assisted the girls up and down the steps and I was helping them change in the camper.

Heather and Joan surprised their parents with a lovely anniversary cake and we all enjoyed sharing it!  They spent their actual anniversary on August 5 in Winnipeg.  Grandson Bjorn Markentin was taking part in diving events at the 2017 Canada games.  He just turned 16 on Aug.1 so was at the younger end of the age spectrum for the diving events. He had a personal best score in one of the dives, a great time to do that!  Congratulations, Bjorn, for representing Saskatchewan, and the Erickson family so well at your first Canada Summer games.  We were all very proud of you! With your skills in diving we look forward to seeing you on a diving platform at the Olympics someday!
