HOLIDAYS

We are between holidays so it's a good time to update my blog after another long absence.  I've had trouble logging in again so took time this morning to fix the problem.

Since my last blog we have enjoyed a bus trip to Kansas City to take in three Blue Jay games.  We left on June 21 and returned on the 27th.  We were part of a group of 40 who travelled with Stagecoach Tours out of Weyburn, SK.  We met the bus in Estevan, just 35 miles from the farm.  It is our favourite means of travel these days, leave the driving and all arrangements to the bus company!  The Jays won just one out of three games so that was somewhat disappointing but the games they lost were close ones so good games, except for the final scores!  We also had a tour of the
stadium so that was special.

Love those cupcakes!
Todd, Kristy, Nora and Elly Clara spent a week at Kenosee camping beside Clare's and Kirk's.  We joined them, staying at Kenosee Inn for July 5th and 6th.  The sixth was a big day - Elly Clara's first birthday!  I made cupcakes, the girls iced them and Elly Clara loved them.  She finished one off and went for a second.  She needed a bath and a change of clothes when she was finished.

On July 8 we enjoyed a visit from Alan's son Derek, Jackie, Ben and JJ.  They spent Saturday with us and we had breakfast together at The Flats in Estevan on Sunday morning.  None of Alan's children had met any of my children so it finally happened - Todd's joined us for breakfast as they were on their way to the farm from Kenosee.  So that's a start on getting these stepchildren together!

Now we are looking forward to our Erickson family reunion at Cypress Park, SK which starts on Saturday, July 22nd.  We meet there every three years and this will be our fifth reunion.  There is a potential gathering of 58 persons but not all will be able to make it.  Merv and Jan's grandson, Bjorn Markentin, is diving at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg so he and his dad, Morris, will not make it to this reunion.

Most of the group will be camping at Hidden Valley campground, a special one for group camping with  eleven campsites.  Alan and I will be at the  hotel, our style of camping these days!

There were two graduates in the Erickson family this year - Hans Markentin of Saskatoon, Morris and Joan's oldest and Kelsey Howell of Consul, SK who is Tanya and Jody 's oldest.

Todd and Kristy were at Elbow visiting Rob Hundeby and family when they came across Merv and Jan at the golf course!  Here they are at the lake.  We look forward to a visit at Cypress!

My brother Alan sent me this picture so I'll include it for throw-back Thursday.  I was likely in grade two at Frontier School, am wearing a striped sweater in the middle row.

Alan and I enjoyed taking in the parade at the 48th annual threshing bee last Saturday in Crosby, ND.  Rumley oil pull tractors were the featured tractor so here's a picture of one of them.

I had more pictures to add but I'll call it quits for tonight and finish packing for our trip to Cypress.  My next blog will deal with our fifth Erickson reunion.
