These two pictures came from Norway so I want to share them with you. Nora is such a good big sister to Elly Clara and looks so grownup, especially in the second one!
Todd's will be leaving today to spend Easter in Germany. They will meet Kristy's parents there and celebrate a 70th wedding anniversary with Helga's aunt and uncle near Berlin. Todd will also celebrate his 40th birthday there on April 15.
Four years ago Laurel and I spent Easter with Todd, Kristy and baby Nora in Kristiansund. Precious memories.

A week ago Wednesday we learned tragic news that 29 year old Katie Vinge died in a two vehicle accident north of Carlyle, SK. She was a granddaughter of Howard's cousin, Glenn and Vivian Vinge and was the chef and co-owner of "The Happy Nun," a unique eating place in Forget, SK that specializes in local food and musical talent. We had often talked about going there sometime, perhaps for an after harvest meal. But that "sometime" never happened. The experience in itself would have been a special occasion. It's another lesson in "Do it now". You might not get a second chance.
Katie had presented a talk in Weyburn last fall. I will add a link to the article from the Carlyle paper if you wish to learn more about her. Just click here.http://www.carlyleobserver.com/news/local-news/inspiring-entrepreneur-the-happy-nun-s-katie-vinge-speaks-to-saskatchewan-businesswomen-1.3139919 and click again on the link that shows in blue.
We didn't to to the service in Forget on April 5, but sent some flatbread back with Clare for them and will visit Vivian soon, when she is alone again. Vivian told me on the phone that "Katie was the light of my life these past three years". She came often to visit Grandma, who loved to help out whenever she could with jobs such as ironing serviettes or baking pies or other desserts for her. Katie's husband, Riley Riddell, is from Wawota and is currently teaching school there. They bought a house at Kenosee so they both could drive from there to work. And now all has changed and her family is left with a huge void in their lives that can never be filled. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Riley, her parents Connie and Tim Vinge and sister Jillian of Fairview, Alberta and Grandma Vivian Vinge of Weyburn, SK. A large crowd attended the celebration of her life in Forget. Several chefs that Katie had worked with in Regina arranged for the lunch that was served at the Happy Nun following the service.
Clare, Jodi and Abbey went to Edmonton this past weekend to attend the funeral service for an aunt of Jodi's. They were also able to take in the 1-2 curling game between team Canada and team Sweden. Alan was absorbed in the game on TV and I was dozing when I heard Alan call out "There's Abbey!" Clare was taking a picture of her with Mark Nichols from team Canada and a photographer caught a picture too! Abbey sent Clare's picture so I will add it here.

Today on Facebook a memory from six years ago came up. We were at the Mens World Curling in Regina. Todd and Kristy were home and had brought Norsk toques for the kids. Dawson, Eric and Abbey were wearing their toques and had their picture taken with two members of Team Norway. It was shown on TV too! I'll add that picture here. If you click below, then click on the blue box you will see the picture from Facebook six years ago!
Ashley took part in a dance competition at The Cugnet Centre in Weyburn last weekend. We watched two of her group numbers on Sat. Pictures aren't allowed during the performances so here are ones taken later.

I have a head start on some lettuce. I cut off the base of three stalks of Romaine lettuce heads, let them sit in water for a week and then planted them. Here's a picture. I hope we can be eating lettuce before too long!
