This picture from our last Erickson reunion in 2014 just came from Mandy with good news that she has booked our favourite campground in Cypress Park for our next reunion in 2017! The campground is booked from Saturday July 23 to Thursday July28. Thanks for taking care of this again, Mandy!
Spring is officially here but the temperature goes up and down so it doesn't seem as much like spring as it did back in March. However, the grass is turning green, trees are in bud, the tulip plants are poking through, meadow larks and robins have come back from their winter in the south. All these signs of spring are welcome.
I am behind in my blog again. My excuse this time is that I have been working on my books, getting ready for Clare to do my income tax. And I might add, I just haven't been in the mood for blogging for some reason. I guess it was just time for a break.
April is a busy month with birthdays and anniversaries. I remembered my Grandma Erickson's birthday on April 3rd and Grandma Haaland's on April 4th. Shauna and Kirk's 16th anniversary was on April 8th, Laurel and Greg's 19th anniversary on April 12th. We are celebrating our 14 months anniversary on April 14 We plan to take in "Louisiana Hayride" in Weyburn tomorrow evening.
We were sorry to learn of the sudden passing of Ralph Rasmussen, Shauna's stepdad, last Monday evening. He turned 85 last week, had been a resident at Lampman Community Health Centre. Carter, Lindsay and Jamie will miss popping over to see Grandpa Ralph, just a block away. We plan to attend his funeral service on Friday. Our thought and prayers are with Shauna, Kirk, Carter, Lindsay and Jamie as well as Loretta, Aaron, Neil and their families.
Ashley recently took part in a dance competition in Ogama. Here' a picture of the girls waiting for their turn in their Jazz event. (no pic)
On April 28th I have an appointment with the Weyburn Kidney Health Program. Blood tests show that I have chronic kidney disease, although I really don't have other symptoms yet. I am hoping that this program will help me to delay the progress as long as possible. Alan and I will meet with a Chronic Disease nurse, dietician and a pharmacist. I am so glad there is help available instead of waiting until the disease advances to a later stage. I had blood tests and a urine sample taken at the lab on Monday. Now I need to keep a food record each day as well as blood pressure readings. I will update here after this 1 1/2 hr session is over.
We will be visiting Todd via Facetime on Friday, his 29th birthday. I talked to him a couple days ago. Nora is taking part in a Tarzan club at Barnehage. She takes a backpack for this adventure which takes place every Tuesday. I will add pictures when I get them. She is excited about being a big sister in July and is thinking of things they need to buy for this new baby - diapers, socks etc.
We have ordered new flooring for the kitchen and hallway so that should be installed sometime in May. Last year we put new carpet in the living-room so it's good to keep up with improvements.
Alan is glad that baseball season is here once again. He watches most Blue Jay games on TV and we have plans to take another bus trip to Minneapolis in May when the Blue Jays play there. That's where he'll celebrate his birthday on the 21st!
Well, I have likely missed items but this will be it for now. See you again next week! I hope we get some rain by then.
