BUSY WEEK

I signed off on my last blog post with .....to be continued.  It's Sunday evening so I better keep my word.

We were in Weyburn on Wednesday to mourn the passing of Gaby Kot and to celebrate her life.  Many of her family were in attendance, even granddaughter Danielle from Winnipeg who became the mother of triplets on April 24th.  Her husband and his mother took over baby duties so she could attend. In the afternoon we gathered at Clare and Jodi's and enjoyed visiting in shady spots in their cosy backyard.  Abbey is sporting a cast after going over the handlebars of her bike when a towel got caught in the spokes when they were holidaying at Kenosee.

Abbey was fortunate to have her Grandma Gaby right in Weyburn from the time Abbey was born.  Gaby had moved to a care home in Radville for the last few months of her life.  She loved sports and her proudest moment was when she represented Saskatchewan at "The Lassies", now the Tournament of Hearts in 1976.  She played third on the team from Weyburn.  Jodi and Abbey follow in her footsteps as they both love to curl and play ball.  Abbey also plays basketball and volleyball.  (She doesn't take after this grandma!)

On Saturday Alan and I went to Crosby, ND for their annual Threshing Show.  We made sure we were there in time for the parade at noon SK time.  We met Hartley and Louise at the gate so enjoyed visiting with them during the hour and twenty minutes of the parade and also over lunch.  Then we went our separate ways and also found Kirk, Carter and Clare close to the threshing machines.  We were all amazed at all the old steam engines that were up and running.  Avery machinery was the featured company this year, a company that I was not familiar with.  I remember Dad talking about Hart Parrs,  Rumelys and of course Case, John Deere etc.  It gives us an idea of the challenges the pioneers had in operating these iron "monsters" and a wonder how many have survived to run again.  This takes a host of volunteer who come from far and wide.  One of note is Kelly Tytlansvik of Estevan who grew up in Bromhead area.  He is an expert in the steam engine and spends a week in Crosby before the shows to help get things up and running.  His daughter Jessie has been coming with him for 32 years, riding with him from the time she was a toddler.

Clare took a lot of pictures so I'll add more when he sends some.
We stopped at Supervalu for some Elberta peaches before we headed home.  I got the last two cases.  They were small, but nice for eating.  I'll go back on Tuesday when there's another shipment coming in and get some bigger ones for canning.

Swimming lessons have been on the agenda during the holidays.  Here are two proud granddaughters with their certificates.

Update on my brother Alan.  He is still in hospital in Shaunavon and will be transferred to Regina later this week.
