MILD WEATHER

Prairie sunset at the farm on Thursday
When I came home from Estevan on Thursday I just had to take pictures of the beautiful sunset.  We often take those prairie sunsets for granted but they are amazing and each one is unique.

It's a rainy Saturday with icy roads in the area this morning.  I'm glad that I don't have to go anywhere today as there's also snow in the forecast.  Mild temperatures cause lots of problems when it's right around the zero mark.  (We didn't get any snow here)

It's been very mild in Frontier too.  Here's a picture of three of my sister's grandchildren enjoying a water puddle, not a usual pastime in January in Saskatchewan!

I'll also share a cute picture of Nora and her friend Aria on the snow sled in Førde, Norway today (Sunday). Todd said that Nora didn't want to go at all.  Once on there and she had zipped down the hill she was all smiles!  She is the rosy cheeked sweetie behind her cute little friend Aria.  Thanks, Todd. Your text came just as Pastor Danny had started his message at this morning's service and I had forgotten to put my iPhone on vibrate. Lesson learned!!

I got twenty-four 10 and a half inch red bandana print squares cut out yesterday so tomorrow I will add them to 24 denim squares for a quilt top to bring for quilting day on Tuesday. LWR requests quilts that are 60" by 80". We will certainly miss Caroline Bjornson at our quilting days as she fell on the ice on Thursday and broke a bone in her leg.  Caroline is our "pinner" as she folds and pins the edges of the quilt backs over the fronts to make a binding.  Who will take her place?

Clare is in bed with the flu.  Take care of yourself so you can curl in the Crosby bonspiel next weekend!  Jodi will be off to Assiniboia for Abbey's basketball tournament.  Good luck there too.

I reached a milestone last week when Dawson celebrated his 14th birthday.  His arrival marked the day that I became a Grandma.  My sister and two brothers, all younger than I am, were already grandparents.  Finally it was my turn!  I was blessed with two more grandchildren that year so I caught up in a hurry.  Dawson had such a busy day with school and a hockey game so didn't get his picture taken.  Here's a recent one taken at Christmas when Todd just got back from the Flyer-Jets game in Winnipeg.  Dawson doesn't look tall beside Todd so he should have had one taken beside Grandma to show how much he has grown this past year.

This promises to be a busy week with quilting on Tuesday, singing with the Torquay Grannies on Wednesday afternoon at St. Joseph's Special Care Home in Estevan and volunteering at Torquay library on Thursday morning.  Eric has a hockey game in Estevan at noon on Saturday so I'm planning to take part of that in before going to Trinity, Estevan for the funeral service for Irene Halvorson at 2:00. She passed away just two days after her 93rd birthday. The burial will be in Torquay cemetery at a later date.

Irene outlived our good friend and neighbour, Adolph Grimsrud, who was born the same day as Irene.  Here's a picture of Adolph and baby Dawson whose birthday was one day after Adolph's.

I managed to meet my Sunday deadline this week and hope to do the same next week.  Enjoy this last week in January.  By the way, I'm counting days again until Alan comes to help celebrate my birthday and Valentines Day!!
