ADVENT TWO

This second week in Advent has gone by quickly, with no blog post in the middle.  Sandra's help with decorating got me in the mood for Christmas preparations.  I have all the beds ready for company with freshly washed flannel sheets.  So cosy!

I have several orders for flatbread so have been working on those.  Thanks to Pastor Danny and Madeline who took me to Ambrose and Crosby on Friday.  They had a package to pick up at the elevator in Ambrose and I had mail and parcels at the Post Office.  We browsed through a few of the stores in Crosby but did most of our shopping at the grocery store.  I stocked up on buttermilk for flatbread and picked up a package of lutefisk. I like to have that on Christmas Eve as that's the memory I have of that evening at Grandma and Grandpa Erickson's in Frontier.  There were no meatballs served with it either, just potatoes, lefse, and maybe a vegetable.  Dessert was always "Bondepike"- applesauce layered with whipped cream and crumbs (browned bread or graham wafer crumbs)

On Wednesday Ron and Gail picked me up for the annual Fifty and Over Club's Christmas supper.  It was a very good meal catered by EB's of Estevan - baked ham and turkey with all the trimmings plus a fruit crisp with ice cream for dessert.  This was followed by carol singing with Vickie and me leading.  Then we had our $10 gift exchange with lots of "stealing" going on. The favourite items seemed to be the cosy throws as they did a lot of moving.  It was good to visit with people we don't get to see very often.  Christmas oranges hit the spot before heading for home.  Thanks to those who arranged this special evening.

There has been curling coverage from the Canada Cup of curling in Camrose this past week.  I'm not an avid curling fan but I have enjoyed watching the last part of several games "with" Alan.  We have the same channel on our TV's and thanks to Sask Tel's bundle we can be on the phone together until my portable is out of power!

Abbey took part in a Junior Curling bonspiel in Moose Jaw this past weekend.  She plays third on her team.  They came in first out of the five teams in their category.  Well done, girls.

Eric had a hockey tournament in Bismarck, ND this weekend.  They left Milestone on Friday as their first game was at 8:00 on Sat. morning. They played in the final today at noon but Moose Jaw was too tough for them.  I was glad to hear they made it safely home about an hour ago as the weather was "iffy" in places.

I have my last tests in Regina on Friday, an EEG and an ultrasound at the General Hospital.  Eric has a game in Estevan on Saturday so I will go along to that and we will spend the evening here at the farm.  Dawson plays in Lampman on Sunday but Grandma will miss that one.  Those contact games are too rough for me, even if two grandsons are playing against each other!

That about sums up the last week.  Don't look for another post until next weekend.  It's a busy time of year!  I'm working on my Christmas letter so hope to get that out before long. Enjoy your preparations for Christmas.  It's fun to find cards and letters in the mail box!
