ADVENT THREE

It's hard to believe that today is already the third Sunday in Advent.  I have a list of things to do in the next ten days, but shopping is not a big part of that list.  Not that it's all done, but buying gifts is not what Christmas means to me.  This year, thanks to an idea from Todd and Kristy, gifts to the grandchildren were taken care of in July.  We spent three days together in Drumheller, AB staying at a Bed and Breakfast and visiting the Dinosaur Museum, the Passion Play and other attractions in the area.  Trying different eating places was a big part of it too!  So instead of things wrapped up under the tree, the grandkids have memories to cherish for a lifetime.  I am making something for each of them though - a can of their favourite cookies.

On Wednesday I had my last dental appointment as my new crown is now in place.  Thanks Tressa, for giving me a ride.

I spent part of this week at Laurel and Greg's as I had an EEG in Regina on Thursday afternoon. (You might say that I had my head examined!  I had 25 electrodes attached to my scalp and shoulders for 20 minutes.  All I had to do was relax and I even dozed off!)
I went with Clare to Weyburn on Wed. and took the evening bus to Milestone.

I enjoyed going to the grades 5-8 Christmas concert on Thursday evening at the school.  Eric was in the grade 5-6 choir and I so enjoyed listening to all the Christmas carols that they sang between the three short plays that were presented.  It is encouraging to have schools in SK where the true meaning of Christmas is still portrayed in songs and drama.

On Saturday I went to Estevan with Laurel, Eric and Ashley as Eric had a hockey game at 3:30.  It was a tie game until late in the third period when Estevan scored the winning goal to make it 5-4.  Then we hurried off to the Estevan Comp where Abbey's team from St. Mikes Junior High in Weyburn was taking part in a basketball tournament.  We got to see her in action.  She played very well as did the rest of her team winning that game 43-25 and taking the consolation event.  Way to go girls!

Then it was back to the farm for the night.  We were off to 9:00 morning worship at Trinity this morning.  Laurel and Ashley left right after as they were going to have brunch with Kurt, Danita, Lee and Mark at their farm north-west of Lampman. (Eric had gone home with Auntie Danita from his hockey game.)  Greg, Dawson and Grandma Gaylene joined them there and then they were off to the Bantam hockey game between Lampman and Milestone with Dawson and Carter playing against each other.  This time Milestone couldn't recover from an early deficit like they did in their last game.  The score was 9-0 for Lampman.

I enjoyed going to Torquay Cafe at noon along with Randy, Vi, and Dorthea.  Thanks for the ride home!

I watched some of the curling from Yorkton, then did some reading from a newly downloaded book on my iPad.  ( I should have been working on Christmas mail!  But it's okay if my greetings get to their destination after Dec. 25th as that is really the first day of the twelve days of Christmas.)

I am planning to take the bus to Edmonton for New Years so I am counting days again!  I am looking forward to visits with Alan as well as with Ardis and family.

Time to wrap this up and get a good night's sleep so I can tackle some of the items on that list tomorrow.  Have a great week.
