Tonight is the annual Christmas supper at the Fifty and Over Club in Torquay. I was planning to go and had agreed to play my accordion along with Vickie on the organ. But it's been a COLD and windy day and I couldn't get myself to head out tonight. Yes, the weather was a factor but I think going alone was a bigger factor. I wasn't at the supper last year so this would have been the first one since Howard's passing. I guess I wasn't ready for that. He always enjoyed the visiting and the good meal. We all enjoyed hearing his strong voice during the carol singing. I was busy this morning making flatbread and packing up a box for the gift exchange tonight. But after lunch I got to feeling blue and just wanted to stay home. I'll work on my blog and then make another batch of flatbread, the fifth one, with another four batches mixed, ready and waiting.
It's good to have my blog to remind me of what I was doing at this time last year. I missed the Fifty and Over supper then because I was on my way to Brooks to meet little Nora for the first time! Todd, Kristy and Nora had spent two weeks in Mexico with the Ledenes. I was anxious to see my eighth grandchild!
I hadn't been in Brooks very long when I got word that a dear friend, Lilah Daae, had passed away. So I am thinking of her family this week as Dec. 6 marks a year since her battle with cancer ended and she went to her heavenly home. Blessed be her memory.
Today Dan and Helga Ledene will arrive back from their trip to Norway, Helsinki and London. I'm sure it was tough to leave Nora, Kristy and Todd after spending a month with them in Kristiansund. It helps to have Facetime!
I didn't get to Kirk's as planned this week either. The weather wasn't good on Monday and neither was the forecast. However, the storm missed this area so the trip to Winnipeg went ahead on Tuesday, without Shauna.
Now it's Thursday morning and I'm getting ready to head to the library at ten. Then I'm planning to go to Estevan, cold or not! There's no promise of warmer weather any time soon so I might as well go today when I am already in Torquay. I need some groceries and have my Christmas letter ready to run off at House of Stationery. And I have some flatbread to deliver!
Laurel and Greg are Minot and Bismarck bound this weekend. Dawson has hockey in Bismarck and Eric in Minot. Ashley is undecided - to stay with Grandma J or go along to the U.S.!
No pictures today, the camera is froze up! Not really, but you had an overdose of pictures on the last post so that's my excuse for non today. Have a good rest of the week. Stay warm!
