ADVENT THREE

Today the third candle, the pink one, was lit in our Advent wreaths.  I bought the one in the picture at an outdoor Christmas market in Norway with Todd and Kristy.  I will burn the three candles as I have my supper on this third Sunday in Advent.

Pastor Danny based today's message on the lesson from James 5: 7-ll which talks about the need for patience.  We need to show patience in this Advent season as we encounter long lines at the tills, clerks who aren't very helpful, long "to do" lists and so on.  Advent should be a time of joy looking forward to celebrating the birth of Christ as well as to His second coming.  I needed this reminder!

Yesterday morning I drove to Estevan to watch Eric's hockey game at Spectra Place.  I joined Greg, his sister Danita, her son Lee as we cheered the Milestone Flyers on to victory.  Eric scored several goals but got a penalty too!  We enjoyed lunch at DQ, thanks to Danita!   I did some shopping then headed home as it was snowing quite a bit.  There wasn't much new snow at home.

Dawson had a game in Milestone that afternoon and had the first "hat trick" of his hockey career!  He plays defence so works more to prevent the opposition from scoring so it was a thrill for him to score three goals in a 5-4 win over an Estevan team.  This afternoon his team is playing a Weyburn team in Milestone so he'll be hoping to score again.

I have had Alvin Vinge and his family in my thoughts and prayers this week as Herborg, dear wife, mother of 4, grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 24 passed away on the evening of December 10 while family around her bedside sang her favourite hymn, "Beautiful Saviour".  I was baking lefse on Friday afternoon at the time of her funeral service. That seemed appropriate in memory of this gracious Norwegian lady who always had cinnamon rolls and other goodies ready for company when we visited them at their home in Outlook.  She and Alvin both celebrated their 93rd birthdays this fall.
Blessed be her memory.

It was exciting to get a video of Nora taking 6 steps on her own yesterday.  She is just venturing out on her own after having her leg in a cast for over a month. She was heading for her highchair and was determined!

I'm taking my time decorating for Christmas.  Here are a couple pictures in closing.  Have patience as you tackle all those last minute jobs that need doing this week.  Maybe you can leave some of them out, or maybe you have them all crossed off your list already!  Enjoy the preparations you do this week.
