Today was a fun afternoon as I attended a "high tea" at Hamar Lutheran Church in Bromhead. Each table was set with a different pattern of china and silver. We were served punch, our choice of teas or coffee, many varieties of fresh fruit and plates of lovely baked goods - fancy decorated cupcakes, dainty cookies and squares. (No counting calories today!) As we had our tea and visited, a ladies trio sang many songs from the Fifties. It was hard for Vickie and me to keep from singing along! There were door prizes and tickets were sold on a lovely planter already filled with plants. Vickie was the lucky winner. We were invited to wear hats (or pay a fine of a toonie). It was fun to wear one of my mother's hats, a fancy yellow one with a large white flower on one side. I remember her wearing it to my brother's wedding so it was fun for me to bring it out of the closet and show it off. Thanks, Bromhead ladies, for giving us this special afternoon.
We have had two days without rain!! The timing was perfect for the Slow Pitch tournament in Torquay. The grounds at the Community Centre were full of campers and tents this morning as it was a two day event. It's good to see some action in the old school grounds and those who keep the community centre going are to be commended for all the volunteer hours they put in.
I bought some bedding plants in Estevan on our way home from Lampman and was lucky to find a two for the price of one sale. The plants from Carievale were so healthy looking. I was especially happy to find lots of portulaca or moss roses. They thrive in hot dry places so don't need much care once they get going. I expect we will get some hot weather when summer arrives! I planted some at Salem church too, along with some petunias.
The Stanley Cup didn't go to the team that Clare and Todd cheer for but Chicago was a deserving team too. Greg's cousin, Eugene Diekrager from Milestone, was able to be in Philadelphia to see his son-in-law win the Stanley Cup. Troy's wife, his mother and Eugene were able to fly with family members of other Black Hawk players from Chicago to Philadelphia. The parade on Friday in Chicago was a highlight too as the fans celebrated the city's first Stanley Cup victory in 61 years! Troy's father was unable to be at the game as he is recuperating from a brain aneurism.
Our medicals on Tuesday went well with all tests coming back normal. Howard has lost weight again so I'll have to put some high calorie food on his plate.
We enjoyed listening to the Canadian Tenors on PBS this week. We heard them in Estevan a couple years ago but I don't think they'll be singing in many small cities now. They've been on Oprah and Dr. Phil and sang at the Olympics. Way to go guys. We are proud to have you represent our country! I'm looking forward to getting their DVD from Amazon.ca.
I have rambled on enough so will sign off for now. Sunshine is forecast for tomorrow so we will enjoy that before we are back to showers and rain later in the week.

Lefse! Howard needs lots of Lefse!
