THE NEW BABY!

Wed., July 6: That special, one of a kind phone call came this morning about 8:30.  Nora is now a big sister with the arrival of a little sister!  I was too excited to get the weight or exact time of arrival, just so thankful that all went well and that Kristy didn't need a C section this time! Her due date was tomorrow so no going a week overdue this time!  (But that worked out great last time as Nora arrived on Sept. 7, cousin Abbey and Auntie Ardis' birthday!)
Proud Papa!

"Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!"

Day 2: No name for this little darling yet, they want to make sure it's the right one.  Not an easy task when you also have to consider that it's an appropriate name for Norway and Canada.  Baby names in Norway have to be approved before the name is legal.

Here's a first picture of the Johnson sisters.  Todd picked Nora up after Barnehage and brought her up to the hospital.  Nora was enjoying a sandwich and wanted to give baby sister a bite of it too!
Now I can tell you that the baby weighed 7 lb. 9 oz. and is 21" long.  She was born at 3:15 pm, Norway time which was 7:15 am, SK time.

This afternoon Alan went to Estevan to get his car looked at as it has a vibration when the speed gets over 100 kmph.  I told him that's just to keep him from speeding!  It's a 2013 Dodge Dart and gets great mileage. We'll be taking that out to Sparwood on our way to Spokane for his cousins reunion.  Alan's sister Glenda and Garry live at Sparwood and his sister Donna and Cam from Gull Lake will meet us there for a mini Lutz reunion with sister Joyce and Wayne not able to make it this time.

I mixed up four batches of flatbread this afternoon.  I want to take one batch to Norway and bake it there and will bake a batch to bring to the reunion.  I doubt if there will be any Norwegians there but they might like it anyway.  They can always put jam on it like Alan does!  Or eat it with salsa or .......

I have had two dehumidifiers running in the basement.  The one in the storage room was right full when I checked it today.  We don't use the basement much but it isn't good to have it damp down there.

Last night for supper we had steak and new potatoes to celebrate the new baby's arrival.  We'll have to make that a tradition, new potatoes on July 6th.

Day 3:  The baby has a name and the news is out on Facebook so now I can publish this blog too.  Her name is Elly Clara.  Clara was Howard's mother's name and she didn't have a second name.  In Norway they don't call them "second" names, but just part of the name so this baby might go by both together, Elly Clara.  After I talked to Nora and Todd about the name that was chosen,  I went back to the book I am currently reading, "Last Chance" by Karen Kingsbury, a writer of Christian fiction.  The main character in the book is named "Ellie".  That seemed to confirm that the name chosen was THE ONE.  I hadn't paid much attention to the name until after hearing what they had called the baby, a very pretty name for a special baby girl.

Alan is out cutting grass before it gets too hot for that job today.  Then we'll take a drive to Ambrose for the mail as there should be some parcels at the elevator today. (UPS delivers there.)  Kristy has ordered some things for us to take along to Norway and I have an order coming too.  Iceland Air allows us each to take two suitcases so I'm thinking they will all be full!  It's an exciting time!  Hope to see you again next week.
