HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAUREL!

Laurel is seven, 40 years ago!
Happy 47th birthday dear Laurel Sandra!  Your arrival just nine days before Christmas in 1968 made for a very special time.  You were born on a Monday night just before midnight.  Salem Circle was meeting that night but I had to miss that one, for a very good reason!  You were the first grandchild for Grandpa Horace Johnson and first granddaughter for Milford and Hulda Erickson of Frontier.  They came for your first Christmas along with Auntie Sandra.  Auntie Ardis was home from college at Grand Forks and brought two girls from Taiwan and Africa for Christmas.  Those girls helped embroider on the baptismal dress that Grandma Erickson made for you.  It has since been worn by several family members, the latest being Nora in Norway.

Our plans are to go to Milestone on Wednesday, take in Ashley's Christmas program and have birthday cake with Laurel.  On Thursday we will head for Regina as "the kids" have given us tickets for the Rory Allen (Elvis impersonator) show that evening as well as a night at the Delta Hotel.  Thanks a bunch for this early Christmas gift.

We were in Estevan today so I got a haircut.  Alan took his car in to get a transmission module on a recall for his 2013 Dodge Dart.  We stopped in Torquay to unload some items in the recycle bin and the car wouldn't start!  That's happened three times before but if he kept wriggling the gear shift and then turning the key it would eventually start.  That didn't seem to work today so we called CAA after about half an hour of sitting there.  They had just called to say a tow truck was on the way when the Dodge decided to start this time!  So we called off the CAA tow and were on our way and made both our appointments in time.  After they got the new part in, it didn't solve the problem so Power Dodge sent us home in a Jeep.  We'll take my Ford on Wednesday!

Well, this is all for tonight.  It's a busy week with our early Christmas celebration here at the farm next Sunday, the funeral for Ruby Forrester in Estevan on Friday and Eric's hockey game there on Saturday.  We are enjoying the Christmas mail and hearing Christmas carols on radio and TV.  On Sunday at Trinity the Kids Club will be sharing music at the morning service at 9:00 followed by a brunch for all in the auditorium.  Everyone is welcome!
